Not underrated, it was just that Bull's Head scene - they were all geniuses! Remember Pat Smythe?

It always amazes me with album titles that do a dis-service to the muso who is playing the principle instrument. In this case a disregard for the great pianist Tony Lee.

Whoa did he say that??? I totally feel that. It’s usually just the timing of a single snare strike or something. Feels so good it hurts!!

Phil was from my home town of Burton upon Trent, sadly I never heard him live but marvel at how good he was listening to his recordings. Easily the best drummer ever in my opinion.

A supremely gifted drummer ruined by decades of heroin abuse, but the height of his powers Phil Seaman was the greatest jazz drummer to emerge from the UK. Charlie Watts, Ginger Baker, and Mitch Mitchell would check him out whenever he performed. This track shows Phil at his most sublime. Sheer effortless class.

This would be an ideal record for a would-be striptease dancer to practice to. It is the strippers anthem after all - that and Harlem Nocturne. Imagine all the bumps and grinds Phil's drumming would inspire

Phil was so damned good...Been listening to his playing for several years. I've listended to Side A of the Phil Seamen Story (graciously downloaded on You Tube for who any who are interested- wish I could hear side B LOL!). When he plays, some of his rolls on the tom tom and the bass drum are incredible- they sound like controlled cannons.

I hate making comparisons tbh, because it’s all our individual art and creativity. With that said though I think Ginger would agree.
