TOON, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! The name of the school you requested at 9th & Lindley was originally David B. Birney elementary school. I will cherish this video forever. Thanks for giving me a shout out. I was doing good until you passed the 4700 blocks of Warnock and 10th streets, both no longer there. Yes, Logan was built on top of toxic limestone with a creek below. As the houses in the triangle began to sink there were 3 explosions, the one you refrenced on 10th street blew me out of my bed and i was across the street. I will never forget hearing my mother scream as my father ran into the flames and pulled Mrs Katz, out of her basement and carried her into my living room. Her feet were burned. In my entire life I never had better neighbors and those who accepted the $80,000 used the cash to relocate but I will forever be grateful to Officer Kilgore from Logan P.A.L., Mr. Larry from Hunting Park , all the brothers and sisters from Barrett playground , the great teachers at Birney elementary and Cooke Jr. High for having my back. Toon you are a bright light among the earthlings- PLEASE KEEP UP YOUR EXCELLENT WORK ALLOWING OTHERS TO LIGHT THEIR LAMPS - MUCH RESPECT...AND OH YEAH...NORTH PHILLY 4 LIFE❤

It was a gorgeous neighborhood with beautiful architecture. Mostly Jewish and Irish and it started to change in the late 60s with a lot of good people, mostly upwardly mobile educated Blacks trying to better their lives, but in came the drugs and crime. A few decades later, Section 8 came and that was all she wrote. The reason they had to tear down all those homes (I lived in one in the early 70’s) was that they built them on an old toxic industrial dump that dated back to the late 1800’s and early 1900’s and blocks and blocks of beautiful homes started to sink. Hunting Park is a few blocks south and used to be beautiful. Now it’s lost. Very sad.

@@LS-ub1iq ha, well, I dunno, I'm bored as hell in Nashville, I hate country music, and I'm tired of mowing the lawn. So, wanted something new, somewhere more urban. Lots of research and Philly seemed to be where all my variables came together. But yeah, I'm not going to be in West Philly, I hear it can be rough out there. Of course I was looking in West Kensington which can also be. But wound up finding a place in Olde Richmond near the river, which doesn't seem too bad. Fishtown hipsters to my left and Port Richmond blue collar to my right.

Please dont, Philadelphia has turned for the worst and is a horrible place to live. The crime especially in West Philly is horrible Philly in general too unless you are from one of the only decent areas left like Chestnut Hill, Mount airy, Manayunk, Cedabrook, etc. Anywhere else but philly would be better @@theauntiewarhol

@@areona7715 upper Northeast areas in Philly such as Torresdale is decent as well. And you're only looking at it from a native's perspective. Every big city with alot of ppl has alot of crime. There's nothing out there in the country or the suburbs. That's why few live there while many want to come to Philly where you can actually have fun and build a social life for yourself

Thanks for the support. I appreciate the feedback. Have you checked out my previous 2-3 tours of Wynnefield. I've did that area in the past. I'm born and raised in North philly. Spent 35 years of my life in north philly...but recently moved out several ours away about 1 year ago. So this video your seeing was because I had a gofund me fundraiser active un February and allowed the supporters of the gofund me to make suggestions of where I should tour when I got back to Philly. The money coveted gas. Tolls , tires and wheels allignment. I'm back home now in the country. Check out the previous ones though. Type toon215 Wynnefield and see which ones come up. 🙏 have a blessed day

As for the Logan triangle, the Goldenberg group purchased the property and intended to build a community center. those no dumping signs were posted there in anticipation for that, however the group never did anything and has since left the property. If a company/group wanted to redevelop the property then they could, however they would have to remove the coal ash which is about 40-50 ft deep, and id imagine that project would be very expensive to carry out.

I work at 38:18😊Had I known you were driving by, I would have come out and waved Hi 👋😆..I remember the sinking homes on the news in the 80s. Overall though, I think the neighborhood actually looks good. Almost no abandoned homes, or boarded up homes, very little graffiti, the homes look well cared for. If you didn’t tell me about the high crime, I wouldn’t have guessed it.

What an idiotic comment.. “Philly is turning into a real shithole” . despite billions of dollars in investment in center city, Northern Liberties, Point Breeze , Fishtown and other areas. Chestnut Hill, West Mount Airy, Andorra, Manayunk, Roxborough, OVERBROOK farms, Wynnefield heights, Wynnefield @ city Avenue, upper Henry Avenue ( East Falls) the entire upper NE Philly has the third largest central business district in the country. . and there is constant building and investment in center city Philly has the largest municipal park with excellent hiking along Forbidden drive and the Wissahickon Philly is the only major city that I know of that has operating farms within the city limits, The Manatawna farms Like all American cities, Philly has its rough areas.. but your comment was absolute garbage
