The fact that Tobias Menzies played Marcus Brutus and Prince Philip shows just how good of an actor he is.
@Unownshipper8 ай бұрын
Tobias Menzies was my favorite rendition of Philip. Matt Smith is brilliant in everything but his era of Philip was SUCH an ass to Elizabeth that (in my mind) he bore practically no resemblance to the dearly devoted Duke of Edinburg we saw for decades. But with seasons 3 & 4, you see how natural and still very much in love the royal couple is here.

Good to see the Late Queen Elizabeth II and the late Prince Phillip had excellent communication skills ❤🌹

He was so evil in Outlander...I can't separate him in the Crown from thinking about him in Outlander. Is that good acting or something?
@Unownshipper8 ай бұрын
It simply means the character left an impact on you. So much so that you see him on Tobias Menzies’ face even in completely different contexts. It’s a testament to the actor and the writing of Outlander.
@bbert-fauxlopher8 ай бұрын
Yes it did leave an impression. I would never take on that character if it was to leave many people in distaste. There are many actors who I can never watch because of a "bad character" in a previous acting job.
@l.a.34798 ай бұрын
@@bbert-fauxlopher He played a bad guy in a minor role in The Night Manager. I was impressed with his acting then, and I'm impressed with his acting here, too. He does a "nicer" character just as well as a bad guy, IMO. I think the problem lies with you.

They were in love, they didn’t need a bigger tv . See the focus was on their conversation and not the tv. Nothing wrong with the tv. It was easily resolved because Prince Phillip respected her needs . Protecting her from being seen as unreasonable. The Queen was quick to forgive. He made the acknowledgment she needed it ❤

I believe that as time and products got better in the "Crown" William helped the Queen get satellite TV. It's a part of actual history that I love in this series. Many many prop accurate set designs!

That's a conversation that it unlikely to have taken place. It was reported that Fagan was drunk, and he was indeed a nutter at the time. I would think it would have been very distressing for the Queen to be woken up in her bed by a drunk peasant. I bet she had words to say about the police guards not investigating the alarms Fagan tripped and also not responding to her phone calls.

Peasant? He was from London.
@keithammleter38245 ай бұрын
@@john.premose Almost anything is a peasant if you have a royalty viewpoint. And Fagan was definitely the lowest class. At the time of entering the palace, he probably smelt bad. Britain then was incredibly class conscious. My mother came from England. For about 10 years she would always try to classify everyone she met as to their class. In England she was lower middle class, and looked down on anybody she thought was "putting on airs." As with many from England, it was so ingrained it took 10 years to realise that here in Australia there is no class structure - we are all peasants - just some peasants poor, some with money, some with lots of money.
@john.premose5 ай бұрын
@@keithammleter3824 no it’s not. Peasants come from the countryside, not the city.
@keithammleter38245 ай бұрын
@@john.premose Look it up in a good dictionary. My Chambers dictionary, 1972 edition, gives the meaning of "peasant" as "... an ignorant or low fellow; (adj) having the condition or quality of a peasant." Use of the term to denote a small farmer or farm worker is long obsolete, since for the last 130 years or so (longer in many countries), farmers have been educated and property owning just as much as city folk. The modern use of the word peasant is to denote someone of not so good character - a loser - where he comes from is not relevant.
@john.premose5 ай бұрын
@@keithammleter3824 nope, a working class person from the city is never a peasant, they are proletarian. And yes, there is a very important difference in that.

Phillip's accent is all wrong. He didn't go to the British public schools the upper class men all went to. He went to Gourdonston in Scotland, then Dartmouth Naval college..He also lived in France and Germany for a long time as a boy
@keithammleter38246 ай бұрын
Yes, his accent is wrong, too plumy. Voice tone is quite wrong, as watching one of his speeches on KZbin will show.. But the Queen's accent is wrong too. The actress is speaking Received English, but the Queen famously spoke a bit differently - "Mai husband and ai ...."

Gordonstoun may be in Scotland, but it functions an English public school, just like Fettes College in Edinburgh. Many colonies used to have them.
