'I know what I am. I always knew what would catch up with me. And here it is'
Here is another tribute for Philip Lombard. Long time till I did one. I never thought I would edit Philip again, but I had my dissertation in July and gave ATTWN (the book and the show) as examples, which sparked my inspiration for this show. And of course, I realised I didn't make a proper Philip video, just a relatively short one, under 2 minutes. I am really proud of how that's been doing, but I felt like I had to make something more complex. I am not sure if I succeded. I feel like I started strong with this edit then it fell flat. I actually started this at the beginning of July, but then I went for a holiday (and let it by 90%) and when I came back the inspiration was not the same. I almost wanted to finish this already. Idk, it could have been better still...but hey, it's Philip. :)

Honestly this man would have gotten out so easily had he not trusted vera for that bit second.... for me he was so much better compared to the rest- be it cunningness, sanity or the ability to keep him alive and daring too

Yes, I can agree. I loved Mr.Blore for some odd reason, he was a goofy character to me. Lombard has always been my second favorite, but their interactions were always amazing. I loved it when Lombard called Blore, "Tubs." I loved this specific reaction from Blore, "I’m not even fat!" But anyways, yes, Lombard could’ve made it out.

@°•Jango Fett•° funny Blore did one of the worst crimes but you almost feel sorry for him in the end where as Natasha Richarldsons character probably did the least crime but she was hated the most.

This is truez by the end of the story you start to feel sorry for the last 3 and you *almost* want them to escape, but these type of characters do not have acces to a real redemption arc.

You know, I have a feeling Wargrave would’ve kept him alive. Wargrave killed them because they committed crimes and lied about it. But Philip knew what he did was wrong, and he had no problem with speaking truth. Wargrave highly admired him.

Actually, they were killed because they had committed crimes that the law couldn't punish them for. In the book, none of them had killed anyone directly (in the series, for instance, the butler is shown putting a pillow over the old lady's head wheread in the book, it was not giving her the medicine she required in proper time). As for Philip knowing what he did was wrong - most of them know what they did was wrong, apart from the religious fanatic woman, whose "righteousness" was so strong she believed she'd done well refusing to shelter sin, and Tony, who was like "Oh well, I ran those kids over, their parents shouldn't have let them wander around in the dark when there are roads nearby". Lombard's only strength is that he says (in the film), "I know what I am, and I've always known it would catch up with me". He has the courage to embrace what he is, a swashbuckling rogue that may have been in the mafia in other times; the others, on the other hand, are essentially weak. With what they did, they still try to maintain pretences of being decent people.

I read the book and I gotta say that if Lombard wasn't a nice person inside, he would have butchered all these men in the island to make sure he survives in the end. But instead he died because he chose to do a good deed and got deceived.

He could have. Any of them actually. It's a bit funny how they all knew it could be one of them but still thought they had a chance of escaping. And Lombard was a very practical man with a sharp mind but it wasn't enough.
