I believe your referring to more mainstream/household b4 everyone bites your head off.... I feel like right b4 covid he had sooo much momentum I was hearing his name 100x more too. But... All of the living guitar gods know and praise his abilities and he is popular af with the blues fam just like SRV was. You can't help but respect a guy who stays true to his art and doesn't sell out to the pop machine. Im sure he could be making bank as a studio hit man and touring with whatever new fresh piece of ass that is getting financial backing and passed around LA and Nashville but he doesn't seem to play that game. IMHO

Well done. The whole vibe feels good. Now let's talk about the mix. Wow the guitar is really out front even when he's not soloing. Vocals are a little more covered than I would like but I heard a lot of love recordings where the Hendrix guitar was out front too so, in this sense, it makes the performance sound more "period", more 1960's. He clearly is performing here to not take any prisoners.

Listen to “ Once “from this same show…amazing performance. I don’t really agree though about it being a wall of sound…to me, when done right by Phillip Sayce, it’s a sight to behold and pure magic. He said let’s have fun with this one… which to me means he’s going to just have fun and go nuts for these two songs and he played his ass off. He really gave his all. Playing with that much fire and passion with all that speed where you can still hear every single note during his fast runs is, to me, simply amazing. The guy is just a virtuoso and if you dig into his catalog you’ll find tons of slower songs with lots of space. Actually, most of his albums are mostly songs played in that manner, with room and lots of feel. But from this performance, a new song he wrote after his father passed away called “ Once “ , Michael Palmisano did a reaction video to it and breaks it down and it’s a beautiful song with a beautiful chord progression and it builds perfectly. This was Sayce doing Hendrix and Blackmore and just having fun to end the show. Personally I’m always super impressed and happy we have someone like him who is a mix of SRV and Hendrix and Jeff Healey combined with his own style that can play the guitar and sing at the highest level. There aren’t many left like him and I hope he’s around for a long time because he’ll only get better.
