I had never heard of them, and didn't know anything about them, but I ran to the record store (remember them), and pulled the album up out of the bin. It was the first time I looked into the face of Jimi Hendrix. I was a 15 year old Black kid in The South Bronx, and finally I had a rock idol of my own. I saw him perform 3 times live, and met him at a club one night in 1968. I think Jimi would be very proud of this version. The legacy lives on! Excellent! I'd love to see them live ! I listened to that song sum 10x that first night I heard it. Good thing my sound system was in storage. I know I would have cranked it up enough to disturb my neighbors. I've been watching this for a year off and on. The part that gets my every time (begins at 2:30 to 4:30) is where the camera closes up on Tyler to start his solo. That's is my greatest piece of art in this painting of a performance. Every time I listen, I hear some new nuance I didn't notice before it seems. Can't stop watching and listening. 🤣

Je l'ai vu à Saint chamond en octobre 2023, c'est assurément un grand bonhomme...sa version de hey Joe est magnifique, ses propres compositions le sont tout autant. J'espère pouvoir le revoir un jour. Merci pour ce partage

Every once and again I stumble across a cover of an old song from the days of youth. Most, I just skate on by unimpressed. However, this is one not to be ignored. Many thanks to Otis, Anne and the rest of the band for THE best version of "Hey Joe" I have ever heard.

Wow!!! Nearly speechless. The beauty in musicians' ability to create music is amazing. It also transcends time. I'm commenting on this video posted nearly 5 1/2 years ago. Wow!

I was in a R&R band in the 60's that played the fast version of Hey Joe by the Leaves. I still remember hammering out the chords on my sunburst Fender Strat played thru my Fender Twin Reverb. Thanks for the memories.

I have listened to this version at least 100 times, and amazed each time.

Amazing solos! My jaw dropped when the Taylor started increasing the intensity of that solo then stopped. Then Anne comes in with her absolutely stunning performance shredding that bow, never heard a violinist rock it like that, even Taylor was smiling through it. This is sleeper performance that deserves way more recognition.

If you like nontraditional violin then you might want to also check out Jean Luc Ponty, a jazz violinist, if you haven't already. And speaking of jazz, Dorothy Ashby's "hip harp" is also worth a listen--another example of an unexpected instrument.

I love the way Otis coaxed a bit more solo from this kid - knowing he had more in there to get out! Brilliant.
