Regarding Dankula: No one reported him, the Scottish police went to a Jewish interest group and asked them to report him, to get a case going. Dankula didn't have any money, so he tried to get a lawyer from the Crown, which he was denied because his girlfriend had an inheritance, but that money is legally bound to be used on a house/property. Additionally, his girlfriend was forced to testify against him or face charges herself. The judge ignored all context related to the video, even what was in it, and decided that Dankula could only be an anti-semite. This is not just a miscarriage of law, it's a persecution of an innocent person while knowing he's innocent.

Mr. Dank himself is the source, you can look up the latest stream by the youtuber "Vee" like 3 quarters in. This is not new though, he's said it several times. By the way, I'm in no way accusing 'the jews' of being evil in any way, it was some race-baiting asshole who happens to be Jewish that the police allegedly went to. Reading my previous post I realize that it may have come off like something along those lines. Mark Meechan in fact states that he's had loads of support from Jewish people, from all over the world. It turns out Jewish people don't mind jokes as there's plenty of real anti-semitism going on.

Here in the US the social conservatives are still the most successful censors. They are still the most active in banning books. Only a few years back they kicked a guy off the internet for taking a photo of himself engaged in a mock sexual act with a statue of Jesus. They gave him probation and hundreds of hours of community service, and were seeking to put him in jail for 2 years over a silly photo.

This is a dark, dark time we live in and you can thank the neo-leftists for this. Freedom of speech, expression and the Internet is not only under attack - but those attacking are winning. I'd like very much to get involved with secular, humanist, etc. organisations who fight for freedom of speech and are against true hate - that displayed by the very scum the comedian was poking fun at (nazis, islam, the far-left, antifa, etc.) Any recommendations of organisations to follow would be appreciated.

I live in the U.K. The problems I have with the first story is: 1, offensive is subjective , what one person find offensive another would not. 2, grossly is immeasurable , where do you draw the line, some people will find somethings grosser than others and one court to the next will mark the grossness graph at extreme opposite ends, or obviously somewhere in the middle. 3, it is a joke this time. What happens if I wish to stand up and speak about the grooming gangs around my nation ,and I speak my mind about who I think ,or know who they are. The said group can then say they are " grossly offended" and if they are a protected group they will be listened to. Let's be honest it is easier to arrest one vocal person over a group of angry " offended" individuals. This has already happened in my country and this is going to make that a whole lot easier now. This is a sad time indeed. For 70 years the British and British comedy have been having a pop at the Nazis. Even our own HRH Prince Harry dressed as a Nazi officer at a fancy dress party, with consequences admittedly ,but this happened . How can people have a pop at the Nazis without mentioning the Jews?? Comment on there smart dress sense. Marvel at the fantastically engineered weapons of war, see cannot be done. You can only poke fun at an evil organisation by commenting on the evil they have committed. Thank you for sticking with me for a minute or two.

This is what happens when the judicial system is so far behind the culture... As it stands now, internet irony + edgelord humor (even those with an actual "this a joke" disclaimer like in this pug case) can be taken far too seriously by the criminal justice system. Problem is the people in charge are ~60 years old, and (internet) culture is changing too fast for the laws or these more mature lawmakers to keep up. Yikez.bikez

@Nananananaheckyes6 жыл бұрын
It is a difference of age. If you look at the judge's statement it's one of an older person who doesn't understand the nuances of internet humor. Of course the law in Britain is different, but within that law there is a certain amount of interpretation allowed; a judge more knowledgeable of internet humor would have found him not guilty due to the intent of the joke and the joke being more at the expense of nazis than anyone else. The judge was unable to tell that the joke was more along the lines of "a pug doing nazi salute, ABSURD" instead somehow seeing it as "yes, let the pugs spread our agenda." That's not an issue of left wingers, it's an issue of humorless, behind-the-times judges

Swing and a miss there, billy, swing and a miss. You wish to talk of roaming extremism that breeds hate, and violence eh? It takes all of 10 seconds to find violent actions and calls for violence by some of your minorities, the "refugees". I hate to be the bearer of bad news for you, but as far as I know, in the US it is a crime to call for violence and to discriminate on any grounds. I'm sorry you want to have a noose around your neck every time you say even a minor thing, that can be tightened and yanked like a choke chain of a dog for even something such as a joke. I pity you.
@lelovibes6 жыл бұрын
As Matt Christiansen said, having my hands around my ears is not the same as putting tape over your mouth. I can't possibly understand jimsid1's reasoning in defending hate speech laws and hoping they will "get stronger". Don't you see that what is offensive to you may not be offensive to me? Or maybe that what is offensive to someone else more sensitive than yourself may not be offensive to you? And yet creating laws around *subjective* opinions seems to be the popular thing to do in Europe and Canada today. The ability to speak and communicate freely is paramount to being able to even determine what is and what is not offensive. Limiting the words a person can speak is equivalent to limiting the thoughts they think.

We don't have freedom of speech because of a piece of paper like the constitution we have freedom of speech because the people of this country demand it. It is time the people of Britain start demanding freedom of speech as well. We are not lucky to have a constitution we are lucky to live in a society that demands freedom of speech, but that is currently in jeopardy because Marxist ideology is now destroying young peoples desire for freedom of speech. If the majority of Americans do not want freedom of speech then the constitution is not going to prevent them from taking it away. That is why it is so important to fight bad SJW ideas and feminism, it isn't just some frivolous online joke it is serious because it is the only way to keep the constitution meaningful.

Jewish person here! I cringe whenever someone makes a Nazi joke but sometimes I'll join in too (for the fun of it). I do think it is absolutely insane and honestly scary that he was arrested, prosecuted and jailed over an edgy joke that quite clearly wasn't promoting Nazi ideas. The sort of punishment that was inflicted on him, and the policing of people's speech seems more Nazi-esque than anything the guy did. I understand that punishing him as a deterrent to show how unacceptable antisemitism is may be what the judge/jury have in mind, but I believe it is both morally wrong and inherently misguided, since so may people take his side, and may promote rather than deter antisemites. Thanks for listening to my rant, cheers from Toronto!

Leon Klein LK well a dog is still a living creature. It would be the same if you brain washed a human in to being a nazi. But a human would be to smart for that

Add Bow If Girl How about jailed because the judge didn't like the joke?

RoBro no he didn't train the dog to be a nazi he taught the dog shake when it heard a phrase. it is common practice. he just used "bad phrases" as a joke to piss of the GF.

It's so sad that he was found guilty.They should not have even charged him in the first place it just seems like they're trying to install fear in people for a joke

The 1st story should honestly be something everyone can agree with, if a man can get arrested for making a Nazi joke then where is the line drawn? Arresting someone for a joke is not only against the very fundamental value of free speech, but just sets a disgusting precedent for the UK and how fucked the country is becoming.
