Hey Phil, Canadian here. First Nations Canadian, actually. My heritage roots are that of the Algonkin. My father, with his five siblings and both parents grew up on a Reserve in north eastern Quebec. My father left home at age 13 because he no longer could stand the living conditions sanctioned by the Catholic Church and Federal Government at that time. He shared very little of his childhood with us because he claimed there was nothing good worth sharing. Miss you Dad... From the bottom of my heart I just want to thank you and your team for covering these recent horrific discoveries with your audience, as it has rocked the country that I so fiercely love to the depths of its core. Nothing wrong with the state hunting commies. At all. When are we getting a federal investigation into the contested election, ran over by foreign interference? Or how about investigating the BLM terrorists and their months of insurrection in support of a heavy drug-using convict?
@sofisoph93693 жыл бұрын
@@SerenityM54L2SAM5L5N1 well those "commies" were mostly people that just didn't agree with the actions of the government. And maybe im wrong as a European, but isn't free speech a huge part of the constitution? And that would impose on free speech. Also, yes some of the BLM protests were violent, but most of those violent protests started of peaceful and turned violent once the police showed up and started interfering with the crowd (no one can deny this since there are quite a few videos showing this). Also, what was the need to mention Floyd's past as a convict or his involvement in drugs? Regardless of anyone's past, one shouldn't be victim to the actions that the police took that day. In our capitalist Oligarchy, in order to get something passed into Law, it absolutely must make money for someone. Nothing can just cost money. Even basic necessities like water, and food. The regulation of those vitally needed human commodities all revolves around profit and the GDP. Absolutely no Law will ever be passed in this country that does not directly benefit some group of wealthy individuals with more wealth or power. We are livestock to the wealthy in this country. And they don't think any harder about putting down a defective human than those farmers in those dairy industry expose`s think about stringing up cattle with chains by their feet and dropping them in a pit to die slowly of their organs being crushed because they can't get back up.

Now in my 30's and all these recent discoveries I have started to educate myself more and more and talked to people both white and indigenous and looked online for things I can find and the one thing I have noticed from my side... the side of those only just choosing to educate themselves now.... It was because they were called schools and not what they really were. It was equal to reprogramming camps the church put out for the LGBT+. They were reprogramming these indigenous kids to be European and 'accepted'.... It was NOT a school.... If we stop referring to them as school there may be more people willing to look into this more and more. That is just my thoughts.

Gardening is such a great thing to get into when you’re depressed. Just plop some food scraps or seeds in some dirt, water em, wait a few week, and boom you’ve made new life. When you’re struggling to just do one thing a day, gardening is a great option because the most work you put in is watering every day

Imagine uncovering corpses of a disenfranchised people and actually taking steps to acknowledge what was done and try making things right... 😐 Respect, Canada. Respect.

He is also a disappointing hypocrite though, he vowed to get indigenous people clean running water and hasn't accomplished that since promising it before being elected in 2015.

As a Canadian, it is very frustrating to see us get some stuff right (like acknowledging it's not the time to be celebrating Canada Day) while still getting the really important stuff wrong. Residential Schools aren't new. Indigenous people speaking out about how destructive and abusive they were isn't new. Clear examples of Indigenous people (especially women) being targeted by violent crimes and by our police agencies isn't new. Recognizing what is needed to repair the damage done to Indigenous people and communities isn't new. These mass graves are just harder to ignore and people have finally snapped to attention and started to act. But the juries out on if these actions will be meaningful or sustained. It is very highly Canadian to make a show of understanding and good intentions (ie. the Truth and Reconciliation Commission) and then not following through with anything meaningful (ie. not implementing the calls to action of said commission).

Thank you for covering what is happening in Canada. We are devastated but it still needs to be talked about.

Here in Canada they were called residential schools in the U.S. they were called the Carlisle schools. The horrible legacies both have left are the same.

Ye murica will never even remotely admit to any of their mistakes lol FFS the country can't even come together to admit slavery was bad.

@@99Plastics I mentioned the Carlisle schools because they were used as a model for the residential schools. I first found out about them from an Innu friend many years ago (her Mom was a survivor). This was not taught in schools until recently but has finally been added to the curriculum.

@@nancychisholm5399 I first heard about the schools when I went to college about 8 years ago and couldn't believe that I was born here and had no clue about them up until then. It's horrific they even existed in the first place but then to completely ignore the history and not teach anything about them in school is barbaric and cruel. I'm so glad it was finally added to the curriculum, I just hope that what they're teaching is the truth and history isn't just being whitewashed yet again

@@jamie299 most if not all history taught in schools is the bare bones. I did a lot of research and reading on my own. taught my kids and am teaching the grandkids to do the same.
