loveedddd the tip about shooting all A-roll and script footage in the beginning and only getting short clips of B-roll!!

I have followed the steps strictly and it worked for me. I find the advice amazing and I bought one of the cameras Philip suggests and also one of the lavaliere microphones. Just amazing. It saved me SO MUCH time not to have to learn from scratch on my own. I didn't even know where to start! Thanks Philip.

Thanks a lot Philip. I now understand that I need to draft a script first, shoot the A roll in one long clip, and many short B rolls as per script. Hope to get more tips about filming in the future 😉

Phillip, just found your channel, glad I did. Excellent advice all around, My wife and I have had a cooking channel for the last 3.5 years, we are just about to hit 17k subs, and it has been a grind, but we are finally starting to see the fruits of our labor. I wish I had seen your videos while starting out, I have learn much over the years thru the school of hard knocks...LOLz. sometimes I look at my older videos and they are hard to watch, but then I realize we have come a long way. Our channel is "CookingwithRody" in Spanish because my wife is Panamanian, but all ingredients are listed in Spanish and English thru-out the video. If I could humbly add one thing at min 3:50 you suggest setting to 4K, one caveat, If you have a newer powerful computer to handle the file sizes absolutely. In the event that your computer is a little older or not as powerful, iPhone's 1080p/30fps is still amazing and once recorded and edited you can upload video in 4K, voice of experience this makes for a smoother experience with older computers. just a suggestion.

Another splendid video, Philip. I am planning to purchase the lights mentioned in your video. Could you please elaborate on where exactly you place your lights? In the video they are placed on either side of your island, but some additional pointers (approx. distance from the island, height, angle etc.) would be greatly appreciated! As always, thanks so much.

Hi! These are great tips. I arrived on this video because I’m looking to solve a very particular problem that I can’t seem to find the answer to. When I shoot video with my iPhone, and the lighting changes slightly, the colours of the video changes dramatically. so it’ll look normal, and then it’ll look super green or super pink for a few seconds, and then it will go back to normal . I feel like it must be a setting in iPhone to “turn off auto-light compensation” or something but I don’t know where to find it. I will add that I am using artificial light, soft boxes, and these lighting changes are only happening because I’ll for example lift my arm up to sprinkle some salt into the food or I’ll move my body slightly and it’ll somewhat change the amount of light making it into the shot from the soft box. It’s impossible to fix in post production because the colour changes gradually as I move, and there isn’t one specific frame where I can pinpoint it. I’m hoping you or one of your viewers has experience this and can help me figure it out! Thanks
@PhilipLemoine3 жыл бұрын
Hey yeah so this is basically cause the iphone camera is in "auto mode" where its automatically adjusting its own exposure when the light changes. The white balance is also on auto so depending on what is in the shot, the camera is trying to adjust the colors to make them look "natural" Or to make anything in the shot what is white, look white. But is there isnt anything white in the shote then it doesn't know how to calibrate the colors. The best way to lock all of these settings and dial them in would be to use a camera app like ProCam for example where you can change these settings.
