The Moros and Lumads of the South were able to repel the presence of the Spanish Colonizers for more than 3 centuries unlike its Northern and Central counterparts. They only fell upon the arrival of the American colonizers for their false promises. Take note! During the treaty of Paris, the Spanish didn't include Mindanao as a total subjugated island during their regime. The Moros and Lumads of the South resisted foreign presence for hundreds of years, they wanted to preserve their identity, culture and tradition even if costs them a generation after a generation to shed blood for their motherland. I don't think it's a lost, it'll only be a lost cause if they give up but they didn't.
