37:12 -42.05 Wow, that's actually my niece you interviewed out there at the baby's department Nicu! Well done, Nene DJ, proud of you👏 Not only do I have relatives working there but I know this hospital very well as a patient. I was brought there in January while on holiday in Iloilo due to severe asthma attack. I stayed on 5th floor, I think. The nurses who took care of me were incomparable, they were fantastic!!! Nothing beats Filipino nurses, the best 👌 I just want to add that my health insurance wasnt accepted by that hospital so I paid cash for my 4 days confinement. Luckily, my health insurance back in Europe refunded all cost.

Yes & shown with so much humor & sometimes hilarity, but other times poignancy, and always with positivity towards their adopted home country. But not sugarcoated either-they share criticisms occasionally, but not too much, really. Life in the Phil. is a great subject, & Bianca & Michael started strong in sharing it & continue to impress. Luv them.

Thank you for showing this video, so many assume that to find good healthcare it is only in Cebu and Manila/Makati. I used to work at a hospital in CA and the majority of the nurses were Filipino. I don’t want to be biased but they were the very very good, the best! Btw the nurse in charge of the Out Patient care was 😍 lol. This helps a lot, I plan on returning to Philippines in January. I’ll visit Makati and then see Dasmarinas, which I’m considering. But I’m also considering Dumaguete and Davao City. But I’m impressed with IIoilo City. Good affordable quality healthcare is important. Thanks for what you do!

Thats completely sufficient for the most medical issues you could have. And dont forget that the filipinos that tell you not to go to a specific area or that the hospitals are bad, maybe werent there for many years or might even be OFWs and foreigners wifes that were the last time like 20 years ago. Yes, maybe they might have even worked there, but dont forget how long ago it was. Always check every information first hand if possible or rely on current information with proof, like such a video here. Of course not every hospital in the Philippines is like that, but in the bigger cities, there is always one really good one that is really sufficient. And for US citizens, well, you can choose, go to the hospital there and get a proper room and can stay there until healed, or be in the USA and try to hobble out of the hospital as soon as possible so that you dont get more bankcrupt than you are already visiting a hospital there. For a fraction of the price of the USA, you can get treated like a king with special room and chief physician. I dont get the comments, so its good you showed this.

Ex-pat medical insurance. Do any of you know someone over 50 that does not have a pre-existing condition of some sort? This condition could have been in childhood, even with 40 years of no reoccurrence, and you will still be labeled Pre-existing. Michael Onstad is a Pacific Cross agent and agrees that you pay the premium for a year plus a 50 percent additional premium for Pre-existing, with a one-year waiting period before they cover you. You then pay your $2500-$5000 deducible. Then the maximum insurance payout after that is $10k. Do the math while doing your homework before purchasing health insurance from anybody! An alternative option is to pay out of pocket in the Philippines for more minor to medium healthcare situations, retain my Medicare, and fly to Guam to use it or fly back to the US. for anything significant.

I'd say Baguio is another place you can go to. I used to work in one of the top 2 hospitals in the country and I know a lot who hailed from, studied and still practice in Baguio. My sister was assigned in Baguio for a few years and got amazing experiences with the hospitals there. But what's nice about the Philippines is that, unless you have really serious health issue, you can survive years without going to the hospital. As long as you're not in a very remote island, it's easy to find medical workers around, coz you're basically in the world's top exporter of health workers.😉

@@BiancaBeyond basically, it’s hiring a doctor privately. They come to you for treatment of minor aliments, like stitches or a yearly physical, or a medication consult etc. sometimes this can be a cheaper option depending on the location. The physician gets 100% of the profits vs getting a salary from a hospital, and thus can charge more reasonable rates. It was just a thought on something to look into.
@wintersojourn9356
@wintersojourn9356 Жыл бұрын
Yes this is an available option in Phil. One may confirm board certifications, licenses, etc. through contacting the boards themselves. I wonder if they do that to their citizens that don't have PhilHealth.☹

Iloilo has two big Public hospitals and each big town has its own small hospital too and plenty of laboratory and public clinic and dental clinic. The local government of Iloilo is building a new government hospital to lessen congestion in the city. Most Iloilo hospital caters with the whole of Panay. If they can’t afford it they can surely come to Don Benito and WVMC they have the best care for public too . I used Don Benito before coz my internist is exclusive to this public hospital but they’re amazing that I wanna used this hospital if ever I get sick, too bad most of the international insurances only choose private hospital.

Mark, I don’t have an answer for your terrible American health insurance system but being Canadian and living part time outside of Iloilo, I’d like to tell you that I’m covered by my public health insurance up to the Canadian limit. I’ve used my insurance twice in Saint Paul hospital in Iloilo city and was reimbursed 100 percent. I pay nothing for my insurance, no fees, no pre existent conditions, etc. etc....cheers🍷🇨🇦

The CT scan room was interesting, but I don't like the vultures painted on the ceiling! Lol just kidding

That was my identification too! I enjoy bird watching & thought-Oh pretty vultures! Really, that was my 1st thought. Then I thought, but maybe those are Philippine Golden Eagles?! 😆

Some pinoy nurses and doctors have shitty attitude over here in the Philippines… I’ve met a lot of them but dont worry they are super nice to foreigners.

This is absolutely amazing. My first hospital experience was in 2010 from being hit on my motorcycle by 3 drunken teenagers on a motorcycle. Threw all 5 of us into a jeepney and took us to the provincial hospital. As I was lying there on a gurney, watched a rat eating the sterile guaze on the tray next to my head.

Many many hospitals but always in Ontario where we lived

Most hospitals in Ontario in the GTA have very long waiting times in Emerg. I been like that for decades , I used tomwork in one and just went to Emerg for bad skin rash , I had to wait 3 hours before seeing a Doc.. Smaller hospitals with smaller populations might not have all the facilities you might need.
