Instead of refurbishment, perhaps they should consider more permanent structures inland. Meaning bring in construction crews to do the work.

Good , it's about time we improve the living conditions of our troops stationed there. We should ask our lawmakers to use their pork barrel (billions of pesos) as funds to upgrade our defense posture. The USA has hundreds of bigger ships in better condition in moth balls They should donate at least one to the Philippines for this. Show their support for a good allied country in an area where they need the friendship/support. It would a whole lot cheaper than what they are giving to Ukraine and arguably money better spent!!!!
