I'm a Filipino and got a chance to visit Vietnam last month. It is now my second favorite country aside from my own. It has robust economy and people are friendly. I wouldn't mind if Vietnam takes over Philippines at this point coz we have a corrupt government anyways. Marcos administration is single-handedly the most corrupt in the history of the Philippines. We will catch up starting 2028, my fellow Vietnamese brothers. We promise you that. Let's grow together! 🇵🇭🤝🇻🇳

Vietnam won the Vietnam War 50 years ago, something the PH will never ever accomplish against a superpower. They were devastated by the war then when PH was somewhat flourishing for decades post-WW2 with US support, yet, both economies are almost equal now (even GDP per capita Vietnam > PH). Vietnam barely depend on remittances from their Maids-for-Export businesses and has poor English language capabilities for Call Centers unlike the Philippines. You don't need Skycrapers to say you're richer. Vietnamese are just more intelligent, resilient, smart and hardworking people - maybe it is in their DNA like the Japanese, Koreans, Singaporeans and Taiwanese.

GDP indicators are only forecasts from the beginning of 2024. According to the announcement of GDP growth rates in the first 3 quarters of the year of the 2 countries, this forecast was wrong.

As a Vietnamese I admire Philippines, it's a beautiful country with nice and friendly peoples... And I am sure both countries will thrive in the future. But I just want to said one thing, our country has been gone under varieties wars since the 1945 (and I'm not count a lot of wars before) and we just actually gain peace and rebuild ourselves in the early of the 90's. Again, I love both countries, no needed for comparison and wishing for the best. 🥰

I think Vietnam has a brighter future than the Philippines. Vietnam's starting point is much lower than the Philippines, they have tried very hard to get to where they are now. The Philippines is also great, they are good friends of Vietnam.

i think vietnam gdp ppp in realistic way is around 1.1T considering the fact they're gdp ppp in 2019 was 800B coz its impossible to have 1.6T gdp ppp in just 4 years it needed to have 13% growth to reach that number

Why are you surprised by that? When Vietnam was in war and embargo until 1995, the Philippine economy had developed much more, thanks to the support of the US. As for the current Philippines, in almost all aspects it is inferior to Vietnam. The important thing is that in terms of human resources quality, politics, safety, and autonomy (being manipulated by foreign powers), we are inferior to Vietnam. We should look at the truth.

the reason why Vietnam grow so fast is that they initiated their country to be an export driven economy whilst the Philippines is more on services and the fact that Vietnam have higher median age compare to the Philippines meaning many people are in the workforce on Vietnam than the Philippines because Philippines median age 25 is much younger by Vietnams 32

The comparison parameters towards the end of the video, the Philippines are not as high as Vietnam but they still maintain the same GDP growth rate, even higher than Vietnam. This proves that the value of labor created in the Philippines is higher and more efficient than in Vietnam, so even though it is inferior in some parameters, it creates higher growth value. Vietnam obviously as part of ASEAN and connected to mainland Asia has bigger economic output when it comes to industrial, commercial, tourism and resources. the advantage of the Philippines is its dynamic economy powered by its high tech BPO industry which Vietnam lacks like ZERO. My Fiance is from Saigon & im from Cebu which are both non capital cities. we both visit our hometowns to compare obviously Hochiminh is bigger but Cebu has a more compact and vibrant global economy. We both reside in the EU and ASEAN is more modern btw.
