Here's another special Tuesday release. Again, this video was recorded last Friday, but I was only able to upload it now.
This is a more melodic jam, with almost all instruments (except the MicroBrute and MicroFreak) responding to my input on the PCR500 controller, or directly on the keyboard.
For this jam I used a small Linux program (QMidiArp) to get some arpeggios on the Volca Keys. This app allows one to deal in a velocity envelope for the arpeggio. I'm using the arpegiator in latch mode with an attack of 4 bars on the arpeggio. I'm also sending the initial chord to the Volca Keys, so on every chord you will hear the chord, and then the arpeggio slowly creeps in. Unfortunately, I did not chose a good camera angle, so the bass drone played from the PCR to the volca bass is not in frame.
This jam also features the Noise oscillator from the new firmare for the MicroFreak. This is a lovely addition, that opens a huge range of applications. For this case, I'm using a simple noise patch with some spice and dice to create a rather interesting percussion rhythm. Indeed, I started the MicroFreak's part way too late in the video, and had to replicate it in post-production, hence the drums appearing from nowhere for the first two times.
Some post-production was made, not only the replication of the MicroFreak's track, but also a lot of chorus and delay on the Volca Keys. Nevertheless, the overall structure of the jam was preserved, as you may see from the video footage. As usual, I hope you enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed making it.

Thank you, my friend. I think the arrangement comes from a limitation on my setup: one minute into the recording I noticed I needed more sustain on the solo... eventually solved it by increasing the release of the envelope on the MicroKorg, and also doing some duck reverb sorcery on post production, but I completely forgot that the microkorg does not have a sustain pedal input. ;) Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
