This helped me, it is easy to take it apart: just pull lover part from upper part! if you are using mouth wash, after every use empty air floss from it and clean it with pure water!

Ante, thank you so much for posting this video, this really helped me unclog my Airfloss! I'd like to make a few additional comments that might help people. Opening it was the hard part. It helped to twist it like Ante said, but it also helped to think of it like a banana peel a bit, and how you have to split it apart a little bit. Don't split it apart horizontally, try to peel the sides down a bit, that helped me. When I rotated the gear, it eventually ended up beeping at me, and I think it shot out the water (not entirely sure about the water). You could see the water go through the tube, so keep turning the gear until you see the water get out of there. I probably spun it about 20 times. Question for Ante and anyone else...If this happens once, will it continue? I only use water, so I'm concerned and wondering if I should ask for a new one. It's such a great product but it sucks for this to happen to multiple people. Thanks again Ante!!

Thank you Ante. I was just about to drop my Airfloss into the rubbish bin as it was taking up space on the counter. Luckily saw your video and it took me all of 8 mins to repeat what you did. Worked immediately! Regarding removing the base: best not to twist the bottom shell but to just depress its end (like using a shoehorn) and lever the shell so that it WIDENS the angle (at the attached joint to the upper shell) and the longer shell lip slips under the upper shell edge & simply pops open. Not as easy to pull the shell straight out without levering it a little. Hope that helps someone else.

Thank you for posting, very useful, too expensive a gadget to just bin. I always prefer to try and repair first. Jim As a p.s. I would add that the body is mechanically clipped together by the plastic lugs running along the 'flatter' side of the body parallel to the rubber ring. So gripping the lower end across the narrow ends will ease the locking action of these lugs. If however you grip it such that your hands squeeze the flatter side of the body it will be much harder to release the body. The black rubber is really just a waterproofing seal. This is possibly why some comments on here are from people who have gripped the lower body in an unhelpful way to them and failed to part the body. This aside this is still the best video on getting this little throw away beast dismantled. Thanks again. Jim

The secret to "pulling apart" isn't the pulling but the twisting required to force the case locks apart. I tried pulling mine apart for two days with no success. As soon as I tried twisting the two halves and pulling at the same time the case division opened up about 2mm or 1/8". Continued twisting and pulling had it open in less than 30 seconds.

Didn't work for me I'm afraid. I managed to get the thing open. It does take a lot of force. I tried moving the wheel like you said but no success. The unit pumped air but no liquid. My guess is there was an obstruction deeper inside. After a while the unit failed completely. The second time I have bought one of these and it will be my last. A really badly engineered piece of equipment that has failed twice for me now. Avoid buying in the first place.

I couldn't get it apart but I used one of those little SIM card pin things you get with a new SIM card. I bent the loop/handle part of the pin at a right-angle so it fitted easily in the reservoir filler-hole and poked it into the little hole at the bottom of the reservoir. This cleared the blockage and I was able to then push some clean water through and it's got all of it's old power back. Much easier than taking apart.

I couldn’t open mine either, but the bff wiggled and used a vice and eventually got the thing open without breaking anything. Mine had been unused for 2 years (long story, COVID). It charged up and ejected only air. We couldn’t force flush it with a syringe, and so had to disassemble the top part as well, including un-soldering the wires connecting to the switch. We finally removed a clear gelatinous clog from the part just beneath where it connects to the removable mouthpiece. The tubing connects to a black plastic part that makes two 90-degree turns just as it exits the device. There was more goo in the tubing itself- we could see that the roller pump wasn’t pushing anything through but the clog just looked like water. By operating the pump about 20 times, the clog was finally ejected from the tubing and now it all works perfectly. I’ve placed the goo in 90% ethanol and also dish liquid, neither of which had any effect. A dishwasher pod dissolved in water, though, seems to have broken it down a bit; I think dishwasher pods have enzymes to break down protein debris so this might be it. Bottom line: NO MORE MOUTHWASH IN THE FLOSSER!!

My Sonicare seemed to be completely sealed so I scraped around the unit with a small flat blade being careful to not cut into the grommet. I had to scrape away quite a bit of white plastic before the sides would even budge. I still could not open the unit even though I had a wee bit of wiggle room. I then directed the nozzle of my blow dryer around the grommet which finally enabled me to detach the two parts. Yes, the gear rotation was indeed the solution! Thank you so much for sharing. PS-While snapping the two pieces back together the pink rubber pad popped out at the lower half... no worries...the use of my blow dryer and my thumbnail helped me to push it back in. Good as new.

Thanks for the video, greatly appreciate it! I tried to rotate the black wheel like you have shown in your video, but it didn't move at all... Also make sure that the cause is not a clogged tube but a loose magnet, which should be permanently attached to the black gear. Sometimes this magnet falls out of the gear and blocks the mechanism. This magnet activates the Hall sensor 🤔, which is designed to count the number (1, 2 or 3) of the pump operation. This was my case.

My Airfloss only sprayed air, no water. After trying to open the hole in the water tank, cleaning with a cotton swab, blocking the opening where the water supposes to come out and press the button a number of times (which helped before), filling the tank up with vinegar and let it stand for two days the Airfloss still didn't spit water. So I watched you video and tried to take the Airfloss apart. I grabbed both parts en twisted them over and over again carefully adding more power and suddenly the parts came loose. It took me several minutes. I also tried to squeeze it open with the back of a knife but that isn't necessary. My Airfloss hadn't leaked water into the lower part with the electronics. Then I squeezed the two hoses with tweezers along the hoses. Then I filled the tank up while both parts still apart and preventing the water not touch the mechanics and electronics, and pushed the button maybe 50 times or more to rinse the hose through thoroughly. Then it started spraying water again! Then I filled the tank another 2 times to check if it really kept working and it did! It saved me €100 to buy a new one. For the water I use distilled water to prevent lime scale.

I like the Philips Airfloss, but they are SO unreliable. I forget how many I have had now. They die (usually with no warning), but luckily there are often bulk buy handsets on ebay. Philips should really be ashamed of the poor design and lack of longevity. Not great for the environment either.

@@AnteMimicaMiMe good news Ante. I've had it apart, as per your video (thank you). I found the mechanism seemed to stick even when I drove the black cog around manually. But it wasn't consistent, it felt like physical resistance rather than pressure resistance. I held the flosser upside down, you can see inside the black barrel it has a square slot in which a white piston mechanism pushes up and down. I put a very small squirt of GT85 into the slot to lubricate the piston and it hasn't failed since. I added another behind the black cog, being sure to keep it away from the elctronics.as best as I could. It's a great device, just wish it was more reliable! 👍

There is more than a rubber gasket keeping the base shell and top shell together. As can clearly be seen in the video, two large clips hold them together as well. I cracked a clip when "just pulling lover part from upper part." Pulling them apart required much twisting force, aided by rubber surrounding the shells for friction. It wasn't easy at all.

It's easier to turn the WHITE wheel at the other side (connected to the motor). It will make the black wheel shown in the video turn as well. When it blocks, switch on the sonicare and push on the spray button to see if it will do something. Try this a few times and when it starts working again, fill the resevoir with luke water and keep it right up while pushing the spray button until it is working normally again.
