The DCC recorder is probably repairable. Contact the DCC Museum if you need help doing it yourself, or if you want them to repair it. You could of course also sell it on eBay as-is so someone else can repair it. But I can understand that after such an experience, you're done with eBay.

Yes, they made a video on how to replace capacitors, but I'm not into DCC, I found a person who is, problem solved.

I read a lot of comments that ebay is rallying with the buyers, but in my case, I've been screwed by a seller. I got a defective board, seller didn't want to refund and I opened a case and ebay wanted me to prove that the board is defective and for that they needed a specialized store to give me an official receipt on my money. Needless to say that the return from other country is on buyers responsibility, there are no return forms for aboard buyers and return on heavy and big packages (like a DCC unit for instance) is costing almost like the whole unit, because there aren't as many packages going from my country to Germany, UK, etc., so they charge a lot. So, not always it's so nice and a bed of roses for the buyers.

If you live in US, it is. There are some specific situation like yours, and if something is sold overseas, but usually one with a money is the king on eBay.

@@cheapoldhifi I believe you, I read many situations like yours, so it's clearly true. Just wanted to point out that on infinitesimal situations, if scammed, buyers pick the short straw.
