I liked this fix-it video. Have had a smaller model of this and the bigger brother of this one, with the green light touchcontrols. I think that one had a very similar tonearm. Changing cartridge was easy and I had 3 different, one for quadrophonc playback also. As I can remember these models sounded good. Looking forward to see part 2.

Fully Mechanic player with a audio output straight from the arm. With the 308 (same but you can not close the lid while playing on that one) the 408 is a rough diamond. And parts are replaceble. Old models with 'melted' belts are common. The rubber gets eaten by air :) and is the most sticky substance to clean. Danger is that parts are melted in to critical mechanical spots. I guess I have been luck on that one. I have some issues with the continious speed of the motor of my 408. Somebody has experiance (and a fix) with that?

Hi, a dumb question maybe, but what does the switch do underneath the arm on the right?

There are no such things as dumb questions. The switch underneath the arm is an anti skate adjustment. To avoid the stylus skipping tracks while playing. Normally the anti skate has the same numbers as the operating weight of the arm.
