When stumble upon this Philips L3 while shopping for an ANC headphone, the design really catches my attention. Was a bit concerned about the premium pricing which this could not live up to the standard from other well-known brands. But after unpacking this headphone, I’m very impressed. First the unboxing experience is decent, quality color boxes, a nice carrying case and a soft pouch for alternative carrying option. The headphone construction is incredibly solid. The materiel of the ear cup/headband is called Muirhead leather. This materiel has that incredible silky touch and feels comfortable even after hours of use. Paring with my latest pixel phone was a breeze. For the sound, initially I thought the bass is incredible, huge punch, great lower extension and massive volume. However, after a week+ I dialed down the bass a bit using Philips’s headphones APP in order to get a better sound stage and more treble clarity. ANC works great, canceled out 90% of the undesired background noise. Although I feel like some tweak is needed for the Awareness mode (Ambient Mix) but overall it’s definitely up there as of noise cancelling capability. Lastly some CONs about this headphone. It weights a bit heavy (although probably came from the premium materiel they’re using). Another CON is the carrying footprint, it is not as compact as other top travel-focused headphones. This is definitely not designed for mobility.
Overall this is a great headphone from Philips, love the design, build and sound quality. Keep it up Philips!
