The problem I found being in the UK is that not all my light sockets are screw fit, but I think this is going to be great for my nursery as well as being able to turn the lights on & off whiles away from the house, great video very informative

Just for a mildly different perspective, I'm thinking of investing in these because I'm a student and I have a hard time waking and sleeping completely off schedule with sunrise. It would be an awesome cue if my lights dimmed and then turned off around 9pm, and then lit and then turned bright at 5am. Yano?

Starting price is high but in the long run LEDs last long and the energy saving is great. Also neat way to control 'em. Hope these find they way here too.

That's pretty cool that you can basically change the light to any colour you want! I would love to have something like this in my house, but $200 for just the starting kit is way to expensive, it should start at like $100 or maybe up to 150, that would be more reasonable.

there's actually a beta version and i'm using regularely. you can't set timers cause is still in beta version..asked philips about future development on the android side simply gettin no answers..but for color shading and "internal" wifi used it works pretty the same a s ios app..

Don't be so sure about the claims regarding the longevity of LED lighting. I've already had one Phillips lamp fail after a few tens of hours use. They still have a lot of thermal management issues which 'ages' the electronics faster than normal. I'm not convinced LED lighting is reliable enough to justify the price yet.

Would be nice if the lights turn on once your phone connects to your wifi network (so they turn on when you get home whatever time it is)

An API would really allow this product to take off. Imagine an app that would sample the audio from the phone's microphone, currently playing music and/or video, optionally allow the audio to be filtered into three or more bands according to # of bulbs, then subtly or dramatically modify the bulbs' colors and intensity according to transients in the audio. Another to create continuous smooth transitions for relaxing with your eyes closed. And one to adjust intensities per phone motion. On and on
