Just come across your fantastic review of this trimmer. Exactly what I’ve been looking for for my messy beard. Found it on amazon for £35. Then had a look on the Philips website and found out its been replaced by the series 7000. The 7000 has the charging/battery low indicator light. It also has a Lithium-ion battery so it charges in 1 hour. Found it at Argos for £25 and just had my first beard trim. Well impressed as you said a good sturdy unit. Thanks for your review.

Great explanation. But i want to ask, i went to the store to buy and you said that doesn't work on supply, there i tried and we put on supply with cord and it works. You said that it doesn"t work. The model was MG5730/15.

I suspect it worked because the battery was not flat. If the battery was flat, I do not think it would work by connecting it to the supply. :-)

Hello, one year later.. Do you tested in the bath or shower? It is written in the manual: "Never immerse the device in water. Do not use the appliance in the bath or shower." I bought it today and would already take a shower with it now. kkk

I do not use mine in the bath or shower, but if you look at the questions and answers for the product on the Amazon UK site, Philips Customer Care say that it is fine to use in the shower. :-)

It is not, but it gives a reasonable finish. It looks like one days growth if you use it witout a comb. If your facial hair is not too thick the shaver attachment wouod probably be fine too. :-)

Unfortunately there is no way to tell when the unit is fully charged. I charged mine for 12 hours when I took it out of the box. I charge it after every three or four uses for a few hours. It is still fine and doing a good job. :-)

Can you recommend to me which multigroom that can work with/without the plug? I have a Philips multigroom that can only work cordless after charged. So it can be annoying if I wanted to clean my face immediately but forgot to charged it out first.

Unfortunately, I do not have any information on other multi-grooming sets. I am sure there will be products that can be used plugged in. Searching on Amazon is probably your best bet. Look at other brands, hopefully you will find what you are looking for. :-)

The clipper without a comb attached will leave approximately 1mm of stubble, one or two days worth of growth. If you want a smooth shave you will have to use a razor. :-)

The trimmer will leave around 1mm of stubble if used without a comb. The shaver attachment should leave your skin smooth. :-)
