My beard being quite curly I've battled with ingrown beard hair in my neck for literally two decades. Today I took the plunge and bought a Philips OneBlade and I can honestly say it's the best shaving experience I've ever had. It's not super close, which is exactly what I need for my ingrown hair problem. It shaves quickly and effortless compared to pretty much every other electric razor I've used (and I've used a few) and to top it all off it details really nicely. Mine came with 3 comb attachments which made it super easy to style my beard where I didn't shave it off completely. The only downside is having to buy replacement blades every so often but totally worth it to me.

even if the blade never dulls, once the plastic shoe that follows the the crank pin scallops out it will slow down or even stall. this is what kills most clippers and trimmers etc even if the battery is still good. oneblade replacements are kind of a rip off but at least you get a new offset drive setup as well. how long the plastic 3 lobe main drive lasts is is the real question. i put a couple drops of normal hair clipper oil in the blade side of the drive before fitting to hopefully improve wear.

I bought the One Blade (I thought) but ordered the replacement body blades accidently then ordered the razor so I basically ended up with the Pro Version. This was a very good presentation of the 2 products. I guess the Durablade could be a backup; when your OneBlade is dull and you don't have the money for a new blade and a decent shave is better than none at all, the Durablade could last for decades at that capacity. Whats up with One Blade packaging, hermetically sealed, I had to cut, saw, and pull to break the packaging, it was a good thing it doesn't have to be returned; in a brown paper bag. How is the Durablade holding up? I haven't used it yet still charging, but your demo was a confident builder.

Update as requested : IT WORKS! AND it doesn't work. WORKS : I only completely shave once a month or two (retired ,old and ugly) and this is by far the best ,quiet,light and the fastest rechargable I've ever had. And it recharges very fast! Very easy to clean. Gets warm but not hot like others causing my face to break out and I think that's because it works so fast. Even my ol'lady said"Damn that was quick-you just went in there!" DOESN"T WORK : I cannot master trimming my moustache with it as the cutting surface is too wide to get that "Don Juan" perfect trim and turn to my wahl for that. Either way I still have to use a razor for a "Baby face" shave but it's doing the best for me and I REALLY like it.

Remington has an advantage. You don't have to bring several adapters if you out traveling with remington. Not a big problem but why don't build like remington. In this case you need one adapter to charge your shaver and your phone. If the cord to remington has usb c they will have one more advantage. Then you will only need one adapter and one cord to charge your shaver and phone. If you have an apple phone you maybe need a small adapter from usb c to apple input(if that works. not sure of it)

Call me obsessive, but I had to know which of the three blades shaved closest - Phillips Oneblade, Remington Durablade or Barbasol Power Blade. Oneblade won, it shaves smoother and a bit closer. However, the other two last much longer, and even with Oneblade, if you want a "Go to work" shave, you need to follow up with a second razor. But any of the three will get you to the point where you can comfortably use either an electric razor or traditionally blade. That said, I have three electric razors (again, call me obsessive), a Panasonic Arc5, a Phillips Norelco Rotary and a Panasonic Travel Razor 3831. Believe it or not, the travel razor delivers the closest and most comfortable shave, after which you can go anywhere. I know it's counter-intuitive, but there it is. Honest.

3 points: 1--Remington to remain sharp for "5-year product life". So they only expect the device to last 5 years! Soooo....Norelco: replace blades every so often....Remington: replace the shaver! 2--that USB is a deal-breaker for me. 3--another reviewer pointed out that the 'One-Blade' can be used with a lubricant in the shower!! AND....he noticed it got closer with shave gel! I'm an old guy....after about a week my beard is long and 'hairy'. Single (Bic)...double (Bic) ...quintuple (Gillette) blades either pull like a mother....or skim over. I'm hoping this will "mow" it. Old 110v triple-header will keep for trimmer.

The Durablade looks like it would be good for maintaining the stubble look. I've had a Oneblade for about a year or so and with the exception of having to replace the blades it's a good shaver. It shaves pretty close and is great for lining things up. I'm tempted to pick up a Durablade though. With its slightly larger size I think it would be more comfortable to hold and shave with plus the thought of a 5 year blade is very appealing.

I have been shaving my head with one blade three times a week & its been 8 months & 2 weeks now, I'm on the same blade. I have to say that I always wet shave that is moist scalp put the shaving gel on wait for 2 min & 2 passes & done. Let me tell you this is the closest shave I've got with a trimmer & I have an andis t-outliner corded with deeptooth GTX blade zero gapped by andis zero gapper tool & one blade gives you closer shave than andis when shaved wet with zero maintenance no oiling nothing just get in the shower shave & done. . Since when did we decide to do what the company tells us to do? If they have it their way they will tell us to change blades every shave. These blades lasts more that 4 months at least for me & I have thick coarse hair on my head. If you're backing out of one blade because of the 4 months blade replacement chances are you wont replace your blade for at least 8 months or more. My first blade is been giving me the same performance as I had got it for the first time no bluntness or skipping of hair still 2 passes & done. I have bought the pro version now but using the same old blade from the first one. Bottom line you don't have to change blades every four months & for longevity of blades may be wet shave. Yes - I’d say it is a very good choice for people that have sensitive skin.

I have just tried Remington DuraBlade MB050.It was a great disappointment.It is good for nothing,even without the attachments,it works bad.If you try with a attachment it would be a disaster.It goes now in the trash bin. It is a shame because I use Remington QuickCut HC4250 for my hair-the best one I have ever used,and expected something similar with this.

Good review buddy! Im wondering though.. How close compared to a clean shave does the durablade do? I'm looking for an electric razor and my mind lays on the durablade cause of the never change the blade statement they are saying.
@averageguytested6 жыл бұрын
Like One Blade - it’s great at cutting through thicker hair. It doesn’t get as close as the traditional blade razor but it’s nick, and irritation free if you learn good technique
@martincarlsson43046 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your answer. Im reading online-reviews on the durablade and many says that its not as close as a traditional shave and I can understand that but wonder if it close enough for looking sharp at work. :) Looking forward on your update on the durablades durability. It looks like it can handle a drop more than the oneblade.

Hello. Do you happen to know the difference between the different models for the Remington Durablade? There seems to be a MB040, MB050 and a MB060. From what I can tell they all look exactly the same and have all the same accessories, but for some reason the prices are different by about $10 USD.
@averageguytested6 жыл бұрын
I will check.
@markbied30756 жыл бұрын
The MB040 and MB060 are US models. The MB050 is a European model. The MB040 and 060 differs in that the MB060 has an extra trimmer head with it. The MB050 and the MB040 are basically the same just one is the European model. The following part is what is included in the packaging with the MB060. www.remingtonproducts.com/parts-and-accessories/mens/clipper-and-trimmer-parts/mustache-and-beard-trimmer-parts/rp00490-mb060-detail-attachment.aspx

So far so good, but I haven’t used it as much as I planned. Give me a few more months to give it a decent run
@yankis.5 жыл бұрын
You don't. Durablade uses same blades like in hair clippers, so they last for a long long time. Your battery will probably die faster than you get a chance to replace the blade. Meanwhile Blades in Norelco are tiny (hence the cleaner shave and more control), made to be replaceable every 4 months on average.
