Hi, that's a great catch and the gauges light up beautifully, the design reminds me of the old HP line. A friend who restores old radios and televisions would really like this, a long time ago he found out how test patterns are made on Czech television and wanted to build such a device. Well, finding out how they did it got him - they had test patterns drawn on a large whiteboard and captured the image with a high-resolution camera. Replacing capacitors - I've started comparing the behavior of electrolytic capacitors in different connections a bit more now that I'm restoring gauges and HP generators I've noticed things that I didn't pay much attention to before. For example, we have two capacitors with the same value, only different designs, both are in the axial design from the same manufacturer, but one is short and thick, the other three times as long and the diameter is half as small - when measuring on an LCR meter, I found that they react in a different way to changing the applied frequency. But what got me was the fact that the new radial low ESR capacitor had worse parameters than the forty-year-old Sprague even after forming. Thanks for the video, a nice example of an earlier technique. Nice day 🙂 Tom

Tantalum capacitor are more stable for that kind of circuits
