You can't play copied discs on those machines with out any one or the authorities knowing about it. So, how do you disable the wifi from both machines?

Thanks I was deciding on this for my aunt. She needs a simple blu ray payer that plays dvds as well. She is a huge movie buff and I want to get her into blu rays. I might just go used and get a cheap 4k blu ray player on eBay. This was a great review though.

Who buys an expensive 4K TV then pairs it with a player that can't even push the full resolution? Should have just got a regular HDTV. lmao

I've had my Phillips Blu-ray DVD player since 2020. I have had no issues at all. Mine also has streaming capabilities and it works good also.

Go with Sony over Philips. The Sony will have more way more apps for about the same price. The Sony will also play RW,-RW, +R and other discs formats. The philips says it will, but most discs won't work. Sony keeps up with firmware updates and is much easier to upgrade. Philips you have to download it to a disc, and hope to know where to go for updates too. Sony requires no searching, and you don't have to download to a disc. Sony keeps up with updates for years. Good luck with philips. It's a no brainer her folks. Sony wins. I'd recommend just getting the Sony 4k version (Sony UBP-X700M), or at very minimum the Sony 4k upscale one (BDP-6700). Both with work on 4k or non 4k tv's. 4k player will play 4k discs on any TV, and the 4k upscale models will upgrade blu-ray discs to near 4k quality when played on a 4k tv, but can't play a actual 4k discs. Just get the 4k model so you're good without upgrading for a long time.
