Philips X-ray Tube Disassembly

Taking apart an old Philips rotalix xray tube for the insert and stator assembly. Going to make a nice display for it.
No radiation is emitted from this when no high voltage is applied

The Video is really nice. i took apart several of these tube housings, and the "blue parts" can be easily removed without damaging them. they can be pushed out from the inside. i remove the negative connector and through the hole i put a peace of wood against the inside of this blue cap and hit it slightly with a hammer. this releases the cap and you can take it out without damage. then i remove the tube and cut the wire from the anode connector through the stator. after that i remove the anode connector and through that hole i punch out the second cap. I hope you plan to do more videos of that type. keep it going ;-)

Thank you. I have one more video of me firing up the rotor for now, and I'm working on a display piece for it. One of the other tubes I took apart was MUCH easier and quicker. It was a newer version and didn't have the blue parts. I took it apart very nicely but didn't bother to record taking it apart. Didn't save the housings, only the tubes and stators inside.

I have done several of tubes. I have a very old tube that lights up blue. Even did one for my Sons school project.

What is the source od visible light in those machines, this "targeting" light? Is it just a casual, normal light source inside?

Yes. It's in the collimator, the more rectangular piece on the front.

I'm sure just the glass tube be alright. But you'll probably break it by crushing it. Tsa may think it's something bad and may wanna take it who knows. They take a lot of silly things because how they look.
