Andy, you are my hero! I had the confidence and knowledge to do this exact project on my 2013 Kia Rio EX because you put this out in the world. My mechanic wanted $1,900+ for this work and you saved me $1,522. Having now done this, you deserve an academy award for some of the shots you were able to get in this tiny difficult to access space. The world is a better place because people like you are willing to share your skills with others. Thank you!

Thanks so much for sharing. Can you please make a video about kia sorento Convertor replacement/ change. My kia can't drive fast on the hill anymore. It slows down, when I accelerate it makes a strange noise and the Mechanic told me that my Convertor needs to be replaced. The sad thing I got the car last year and I'm still paying it monthly.

Thanks for the awesome step by step video! You are helping so many people save a lot of money. Word of advice for anybody that does this job…TAKE OUT THE 2 LOWER BOLTS THAT CONNECT THE CAT TO THE FLEX PIPE FIRST. If you can’t get them out it might be better to pay a mechanic for the 1.5 hours of labor to replace the cat and let them deal with it. I spent a day and a half extracting them because they were so rusted and misshaped. I finally used a dremel to cut the lower stud, and cut a notch in the upper nut and then was able to use an 18mm socket and it backed the whole stud out. What a nightmare. Still glad I did it myself though.

My 2016 kia rio 188000 miles running good. Done some plugs ,coolant, pcv, cleaning some sensors too. Triggers cat code but will run right up to 80 quickly. Been running 5-30 restore and protect oil every 3000 miles. Need a new valve cover gasket. I've been a machinist so precision in metal mechanical parts Need to be preserved as much as possible. Went well, all bolts came out, went back together ok and no codes so far. Runs better as well. The hole on the new cat didn't line up with the lower brace/mount so I had to loosen the brace and move it around a bit and add a couple washers. Thanks again for the video. It helped a lot.

Andy, another great video- I was wondering whats the mileage on your Rio at this time? Also do you have a TPMS reset button on this model or does it reset on its own. I bought a used 2014 Rio and cant get the TPMS Light to stop coming on even after using "Thinkcar scanner reset tools and inflating the correct tire pressure. Thank you. : John

It does not have a reset. You need to replace the sensor if needed and/or fill to proper psi. I have 255,000 miles on it

@@saxcat9794 I bought mine online from eBay but make sure it’s an American version. Some foreign versions will not perform to US regulations and you will fail your emissions test. Q: Dont know if your 2013 Kia Rio has a second catalytic converter after the flex pipe under body as I have on my 2014 kia rio. How do i know if the cat P0420 check engine light is for a problem with the front cat you are replacing here or the slimmer Cat going to muffler exhaust after the second oxygen sensor? The P0420 code is generated by the downstream O2 sensor. That sensor is after the catalytic converter near the exhaust manifold

@@jackcampbell6222 Sure.It is roughly under where the shifter is in the car , so you will need to lift the car I found it easier to lift one side and go underneath. Both sides of the catalytic converter are bolted in with three bolts on each end, Either 10mm or 12mm Mine were completely rusted out so i'm not exactly sure You will need 2 triangle gaskets as the originals won't compress to make a new seal .There is no sensors involved in a 2006-2011 ,just unbolt ,put a exhaust gasket on either end & bolt the new one in 👊😇
