Philmont Scout Ranch 2024

Caleb and I got to participate with his Scout Troop on a 12 day trek (12-14) in the Rocky Mountains of NM, on Philmont Scout Ranch in early June. We hiked somewhere over 70 miles when all was said and done, hit several mountain peaks, and went as high as 11,300ft. The physical aspect of incline plus 40+lbs was hard, even with training, but our bodies got used to it around day 4. The program activities kept things exciting, turns out we're both pretty good at spar pole climbing, and the views were insane. If you have a chance to participate, we highly recommend.
When hiking always practice the Leave No Trace principles and let someone know where you are going and when you expect to return.
