Just picked up a tiny guy in a two inch pot literally this morning!! Perfect timing!! Got it from my local garden center and there looks to be two babies in the pot!! 🤑🤑 thanks for the super thorough and honest video 🥰 for anyone wondering I paid US$24 for a two inch pot with about four or five little leaves between what appear to be two plants

The billie is suddenly popping up everywhere here in The Netherlands. You can buy a decent one with about 6 leaves for 15 € or a big plant with about 10-15 leaves for double the price. I love the billie!

My Billie is a seedling living in a small plastic cup at the moment. Seem unbelievable they can get that big, but they do! Im okay with slow growth. Enjoying my little guy, while he is still small! Thank you for this video!

Thank you for such a thoughtful review of this plant. Your care instructions were quite helpful! I’m a novice and just picked up one in a 3” pot. Patience will be key in enjoying its company. I’m still up in the air as to whether I want to grow it upright or place it up high and allow it to grow outwardly. The mother plant is growing this way and it’s eye catching. I have very tall ceilings in the right areas for good light. I’ll be sure to check out your other videos!

I should have added that the mother plant is approximately 4 feet wide and just as long. The nursery strung up some of its limbs along the way to keep it up a bit higher. It’s just stunning!

I have my Billie next to a family of colocasias, and a paraiso verde next to the other set of colocaisias. Unsurprisingly the colocasias are always full of spider mites, but the Billie and the paraiso are clean thanks to the extra floral nectaries!

I bought one a few weeks ago from Grow Tropicals! I love it! Re-potted it into pon last weekend. Quite happy they're not fast growers...leaves room for more plants 😂yours is stunning 😍

That plant, the Monstrera and the chees and the ripho (something), were my favorite are my faves, and this one was the one I needed, finally received it today, got it baby, because they are my kids, I want to raise them from babies, I have my bedroom full of plants and buying more. I agree with you about the floral nectarines. My Hoya macrophylla is covered in it and I’ve never seen a Mealy bug on it. I did have a bad experience when I first started out with my plant adventures. My silver sword was covered in floral N and I thought it was a bad thing so I kept wiping it down and then I finally cut the whole plant apart and it was huge and now I have nothing left so I learned my lesson on that.😢

Hey there, my Billiettiae has doubled up in size in just over a year, they're moderate drinkers, less prone to root rot than some, i feed biweekly, moderately with an organic soft fertilizer and it grows as fast as my mccolly's finale. more feeding is the answer ;) Started off with 10 cm leaves now they're 35cm's, maybe it's because Frieda is a fellow countrywoman :) it grows in my appartment conditions and overwintered next to the radiator, mine seems to be tough.

Aloha Memo, WOW, perfect timing for this Billietiae video. My purchases this year have been plenty of tiny 3” pot sized, climbing philodendrons, 4 small Billietiae’s included. Also 3 new small Atabapoense’s & 2 hugh non rooted Ata cuttings with ariel roots, AND 2 small Billi X Ata’s. And I have to say that even though the Billi X Ata’s are small, I’ve fallen for them hard!!! A perfect marriage of two stunning philodendrons. ** note, I think the X’s will grow faster, narrower, and more internode space. I think the Billi X Ata’s are a must have in a climbing philodendron collection….. Mahalo again Memo!!!! Appreciate your format & information shared!!!!!!!

got 2x billies also for 7 Eur per unit in Germany last autumn. though those were seedling with 2-3cm size leaves. 8 months passed, now it has 60 cm leaves and it's getting really BIG - the petioles are also long - ~50-60cm. I did not wrap it's leaves to the center because it's so lush 2in1 so it got very wide for me. a CHICCLY moss pole with a usual chunky aroid mix inside helped me to enlarge it significantly. it grew air roots inside of and out of it in just a couple weeks (~40cm long) and leaves enlarged very fast since then. I'm growing it under a soltech 40w grow light, 12h a day, ~70cm distance. it's almost a direct sunlight at some point. it really loves TriPart fertilizer.. hope this helps whoever is reading! I love this plant, and I hope to keep it as long as I can. got here to learn even more about it. and I did! very good insights. as always :) Interestingly - I too noticed that heavy nectar plants like Mayoi, 69686, Gloriosum and Billie are way more pest resistant than other in my collection, ha! at least so far tho :) the odor when you cut any of them is also quite strong and more noticeable than with others. soo weird!

Perfect timing! I finally got a water rooted cutting I put in chunky aroid mix. The prices have come down a lot especially now that I found Facebook buy/trade groups. It’s slower than I expected and I appreciate your experience and tips. It’s a plant I loved but was so expensive and then thought it was too plain and then I got to liking it again now that prices are better. I made a tall terrarium for my anthurium queen props (queen new growth much faster surprisingly) so hopefully that will make a growth point activate soon. My heavy EFN plants are p. Florida green, p. Emerald, and p. Jungle boogie green. No pest pressures ever…never really put it together but maybe you are on to something? Unfortunately they haven’t stopped pests on nearby plants, spider mites mostly for me. The conservatory looks amazing!

I’ve gotten really picky with new plants.. and haven’t purchased one in just about a year.. went to a favorite nursery this past weekend, and they released a batch of Billies they’ve been growing out for a year! My five leaf, with a sixth leaf unfurling… was $115 usd with the largest leaf being about 5/-6inches.. first place in the area I’ve seen them! (Northwest Connecticut in the states)

Another splendid video sharing your experience. I got my billie as a small plant 1 year ago and it has put out about 4 leaves so far. Mine is also putting out long aerial roots - up to 40cm! two longest ones decided to do so in opposite directions so I can't rotate the pot in quarters! I wonder if it is because it's currently in relatively small pot and putting out aerial roots to make up for the lack of space in the pot :).

I just bought a very old, large billie that is in an 10" pot on a 36" main stem and flops over because it is so top heavy even with a stake support. It has been allowed to spread open rather than being trained to grow upright like yours. It has 21 2 foot long leaves and is very unstable. Any suggestions for pot size and how to stake it upright so it doesn't fall over?

I have a wee prop of this I believe grown from TC. IT came to me a year ago as a plug. It was so small I was afraid I would lose it. Well so far it has survived me. I think I either need to repot it or get a little more soil up around the stem because it wobbles in the pot. So for me in my high desert Idaho growing conditions, inside of course but windows open throughout the house the leaves are about half again what they were when it came to me. For some reason I am thinking I paid 22.00. Of course this is US price and possible being TC, price would be less??? I do like it. It is still small and I have not pulled in its petioles yet. I figured at this point just let it grow. Spread is well under one foot across.

Hey, The one I got is totally different. It looks exactly the same but it grows more like a vine, so I’m not sure what they sold me. It was about 2 1/2 ft had to put it on a support stick. Finally chopped it up. I wish it would grow more in the form of crowning like yours does. So beautiful 😍💚💚💚 No, no pests.

Yes I have a very large Ph. Dean McDowell that is nuts on the inter floral nectarine and I’m regularly treating it for spidermite. I adore my Billietiaes. I have my bigger boy climbing a moss pole and another in a pot. My petioles aren’t as leggy but it’s under my full sun MarsHydro light. He’s a gorgeous boy. Interestingly I’ve had no problems propagating it, but once the stem gets more woody, then it just won’t strike. I’m going to try it with clonex for hardwood as an experiment. To get around the tiny spacing beteen nodes, I’ve used a scalpel, and more recently, Japanese bonsai scissors. Mine grows pretty fast, imho. For me, it’s the Esmeraldense that’s a nightmare. I got the Billietiae and the Esmeraldense at the same time and my E is still seedling size and my B is up to my waist from the floor, no joke! This plant is now in supermarkets and hardware stores in Australia. You can pick one up for around $20 here. I paid $60ea for my 3 seedlings less than a year ago.
