Hey guys!
What can I say ... this is my favourite philo, and one that is most difficult for me to keep.
I wanted to upload last week, but I decided to wait one more week for that new leaf to pop out of its cataphyll. Definitely worth the wait if only to see that red striation ;)
I added something silly in the front of the video just because I was Covid-bored. Hope you enjoy this week's video anyway :)

Great job 👏 saving your plant , sometimes as plant parents it can take us quite a while to figure out how to make them happy 😊

Hi there, I'm currently trying to get my one and only P. Verrucosum cutting to root and put out new leaves. I have mine in a jar with sphagnum moss. I like the idea of rooting it on a moss pole, do you wer the moss pole daily?
@WinnieLuthienThye
@WinnieLuthienThye 3 жыл бұрын
Yes I do. I mist the moss pole daily. Mine has roots in it now. If you are just starting out, don't make the moss pole too damp. Just enough for the plant to feel the humidity and put out roots. (hope you know what I mean, that's the best way I can put it 😅)

@@WinnieLuthienThye ahaha i'm dying to have a big one again ( the first i killed is about 1.2mtrs and mature 🤦‍♀️) At Indonesia now low price, seems all plants going cheaper now, already 2 months but rumours said would raise again at July. 😂 nice to find your channel, regards from Indonesia🇮🇩

@@WinnieLuthienThye just even if they going bad, just a stem, bald one, just leave them. Some of seller here told me, that they don't like soaking ( overwatering) , and also don't like too dry 🤦‍♀️ ( ikr headache) so yah better check the soil about 30% from above if still wet dont water to keep them perfect without yellowed edges. I love philodendron but this one really 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ spoiled one😂

Hi! Is it okay to mist the leaves at night?
@WinnieLuthienThye
@WinnieLuthienThye 2 жыл бұрын
You can mist the leaves anytime as long as you hv good ventilation. But the act of misting is usually to create humidity, humidity at night is typically higher than on a sunny day, thats why we usually mist in the day when humidity is the lowest.

I have also struggled with this plant. I bought a big healthy pot from a collector a little over a year ago, but it has been attacked twice by spider mites. I don't see the mites on other plants, they seem to prefer my verrucosum. Washing and treating it's hairy petioles and velvet leaves damages them, and I now I have a sad pot with small new leaves. I will try putting it on a plank, like you, to encourage bigger leaves and treat it regularly with miticide as a prevention.

Ahhhh spidermites!! Darstardly creatures 😫 i get them on my alocasias a lot. Dang ... i didnt know they like Vs too. Hope yours get bigger leaves too after you add the panel. 🙂

This is my true love plant too but I know it's so fussy I don't dare to step in lol. Nevertheless the cuppy thing is so clever it totally makes sense.I've learnt a big tip today. May do it for other climbing plants!

I purchased a small one last month and ALL of the leaves dropped, I was left with a small stick with two nodes. I’ve never had so much anxiety in my life like I do now. I purchased another plant this morning and it’s expected to arrive next week. My concern is that in my home I won’t be able to keep it alive. Initially it came in moss, it was doing great, one week later I changed the substrate to orchid mix with potting soil and it seems like from there that’s when the problems started. 😭😭😭

One of the hardest for me. They seem very particular. Hope your second plant does better. They need lots of humidity .. thats one thing i can tell from mine. Good luck!

Try to use the bigger pot alone
@WinnieLuthienThye
@WinnieLuthienThye 3 жыл бұрын
Doesnt work. It just rots the remaining roots more and still wont bring nutrients up to the leaves. The roots and the leaves are too far apart. The moss method not only allows the growth of a new and higher root system, it also feeds the plant more readily. That from what i experienced anyway.
