I always thought that the "if we come from monkeys/apes..." argument was illogical. We come from a common ancestor of those creatures, but not from the modern primates themselves. I always thought that question was as ridiculous as asking, "If I come from my brother, why is my brother still here?" If you want to be cheeky, use this line as a retort: "If we come from dumb, backwards-minded cavemen, why are you still here" lol
@tenuksdnbhd Жыл бұрын
how would you answer if someone ask "did all (100%) of those 'common ancestors' evolved into something else? If not, what happened to the unevolved ones?"
@caspion1647 Жыл бұрын
They died out...
@tenuksdnbhd Жыл бұрын
@@caspion1647 can you explain further? Why all of them went extinct but the evolved ones survives?
@caspion1647 Жыл бұрын
@@tenuksdnbhd Well the species that survived were generally more capable of adapting themselves to a niche. These adaptations can throughout a long period, combined with a lot of mutations eventually cause a species to gain different physical characteristics and a huge difference in genetic sequences between itself and a species with a common ancestor that evolved to fill a different niche or one that evolved to survive in a different habitat. Of course some species are incapable of adapting to changes (like a change in the climate for example) and are thus more likely to die out, because they are incapable of adapting to the changes around them. This is kinda the most basic way of explaining it, considering there are also a lot of other factors involved.

Humans did not evolve from either of the living species of chimpanzees (common chimpanzees and bonobos) or any other living species of apes. Humans and chimpanzees did, however, evolve from a common ancestor. This most recent common ancestor of living humans and chimpanzees would've lived between 5 and 8 million years ago. Extinct great apes such as Graecopithecus and Sahelanthropus tchadensis have been proposed as candidates for the chimpanzee-human last common ancestor (CHLCA), however, no fossil has yet conclusively been identified as the CHLCA.
