Her description of deciding when and how to breathe makes more sense than any other way I’ve had taught to me in any of the private lessons I took for years. It’s so hard to describe to other brass players how we have to plan our breaths compared to other instruments. I always tell people the most exhausting parts aren’t the technical ones, but the long pianissimo whole notes we are often tasked with.
