Pragmatic arguments seek to justify a belief or course of action on prudential grounds. Pascal's Wager is one of the most well-known examples of such argumentation in the history of philosophy. Dr. Jeff Jordan (University of Delaware) is among the most competent exponents of pragmatic arguments for theistic belief in contemporary analytic philosophy of religion, and he is here to discuss his reflections on the topic, as well as his current work on the problem of evil.
