Hi KCAASE, I can understand why you are a bit confused. There are many forms of deductive argument(s) including the condition, or if-then formulation. It might help to distinguish deductive and inductive logic. Arguments that follow our of necessity are deductive while arguments that follow out of probability are inductive. Accordingly the necessity of a deductive argument concerns the form of the argument. There are many valid forms of deductive argumentation. I hope this helps.

Hello folks! In my (beloved) Critical thinking course, we call this type of determining whether a syllogism is valid or not 'poem'. The AAA-1 for example would be BARBARA. I do get, how you determine the validity of a syllogism with htis methid, but I don't get how I determine which poem it is. BARBARA? DARIO? FERII? Where does these letters/names stem from? Can anyone help me?

thanks this helped but i cant help but feel like this subject is a load of hotair like it explains what i know already intuitively for no real reason. this is why i like math and science there is a real concrete reason for them i enjoy the arts also but this stuff is just pointless. why boil down arguments to lifeless diagrams

intuition is great for when one wants to make a quick decision with little information or time to reason, but reasoning is more precise; with reasoning, one can make more accurate predictions.

to understand, you need a true syllogism. from cicero- reality is that which exists evil exists therefore, evil is a reality now this guy should be easily grokked you are welcome
