PERSONAL REFLECTION: This is my favourite video of the playlist so far. I feel like I was able to speak freely, introduce ideas in a natural way, show the warmth that I have with my clients (especially towards the end of the video) and also encompass the enjoyment and purpose of this book reading journey overall. As much as I love psychology (and a lot of this channel will be based on practical psychology), my truest and deepest love has always been for philosophy. It's how I think, breathe and operate. I love it, and want to introduce a blend of philosophy with inner work and psychology overall. If I can make more videos like this in the future, then I would be personally very happy and satisfied. (Written by Billy on 29.12.24 - could be interesting to look back on this video/comment in the future!)

I surely love more videos like this in the future, although kinda wish you would dive deeper into the book itself, but fewer spoilers I guess.

@@stevenpham6734 Plenty more to come like this - thanks for the feedback! For this 15-part playlist, I wanted to go over some books in general, but as I move forward I'll be looking to dissect specific quotes, ideas, and paragraphs from the library overall. I'm not worried about spoilers and plenty of deep dives to come!

Would you say that this series is a manifestation of your philosophy? That is, not just an explanation of the philosophy that informs this series, but an embodiment of it in the creative act of making the series. In that way, these videos and the work you do are downstream effects of a practical philosophy that seeks to propagate itself - to move beyond oneself - even if it is just in giving the meta-cognitive tools necessary for others to see your vision, so that they can then see via their own vision with more clarity. I myself wonder about philosophy as a way of life that does not end up as a physician of the soul, or does it always become the only reasonable path? I suppose somewhere in there one could embody it in small actions in the world, in how they approach problems, and continue on with life as normal.

Wonderful comment - thank you for taking the time to write this. Yes, this playlist (and the channel more widely) is based on the idea of helping you to form your own ideas, not simply be informed by me. I want people to grapple with ideas, work through them, and be a dynamic agent in their own life, rather than hearing copy-and-paste information from online and taking it to be gospel. It's a move towards self-actualisation, to use Maslow's terminology. I would personally see the benefits of Philosophy as helping to add structure to your life and worldview, so that it's easier to see EXACTLY what is working (and double-down on it) and EXACTLY what isn't (so that you can more effectively problem solve). As a nice little existential (crisis) bonus, you also start to see the foundations of yourself, others and society, and make changes/adaptations at the root rather than at surface level. I do a lot of 1:1 coaching and mentoring work to help with this, as I'm aware it's difficult to get this across in a video or comment.
