I was able to get all the rivets out today and successfully remove the lens! took about maybe 5min with the heatgun just going around the edge (both front and back) and it came off pretty easily with a putty knife. Not sure about pre 1989, but for 89+ taillights there is an EXTRA tiny rivet along the edge near the blinker that also has to come off. I'll have to test my setup in the car before I re-seal, but the re-sealing part seems like it's going to be the most difficult step.

Great vid. I bought some 89+ tail lights for my 88 Supra recently (with the center taillight piece it was $450, yikes.) and the ebay custom LED board for them from Russia. It's going to be "fun" as hell getting those headlights apart without ruining them to get the board in there! Watching you do it was EXACTLY what I needed right now. I'm in Oregon City btw, cool to see some people with Supras around here because I've never seen one in the wild. Not sure how fast you want non-melted 88' taillights, but assuming my project goes ok I might be able to make you a deal.

That's dope! I know the guy you're getting the taillight board from and he does quality work. But I got my replacement ones in and am working on them this exact moment to get it all good

@@PhilWithSuper Glad you were able to find some. There are only a few 89+ plus sets on ebay. I saw you put some coilovers in as well (which is how I found the channel) I just purchased a set of Fortune 500s so hopefully those will help with the wicked body roll. I noticed you were resealing the tailights with the original glue, but a guy on the Supra forums suggested Butyl Sealant Tape, I'm going to give it a shot myself. Good luck on your project!
