We drove down from Arcata. I was in graduate school at HSU then. I had a girlfriend named Cloud. We came down with our friends Kevin and Jesse Bell…. Phish friends for life. Life was super simple. Good friends, good drugs, SFO was waaaay different…. Tech had bombed…. The Gin is otherworldly. The way Trey locks in with the rest of the band throughout the intense development part of the jam is soooo good. Underrated Gin. It’s in my top 3. Thanks again for a trip to another part of my life.

The sound quality is all the more impressive for the fact that the picture is from pointing a camera at the in-house video projection. From this it necessarily follows that the audio is also from the same camera (impressive audio pickup on that camera), or another source synced with the video after the fact (impressive editing work).

Totally agree... while on paper, or even upon first glance, it can get overlooked, to me... its up there with some of the best gins ever. Its all about how the song hits YOU when you hear it. This one is just perfect... the entire band shines on the jam, no one person steals the song as it peaks, its all very much a rhythmic, cohesive, team effort here. Some of my favorite playing from Phish 1.0.
