He is singing about real people. Twin brothers. His understanding, mild guilt, and just plain love brings tears to my eyes.

It's so sad that mainstream media abandoned this song, when them doing the opposite could have done so much to make people in general question their judgements, perhaps. It's a very special, touching song by a really great artist. Thanks, Steve. xo

I've loved this song since I first heard it. Then he played it live at a show one night and Steuart Smith took that guitar solo on an odyssey among the stars. I've never been so saturated in beautiful sounds as that since. I wish that night was recorded!

Steuart Smith’s solo is so excellent at the end. Another amazing song from the master.

A tunesmith masterpiece. I first heard by J2B2 (John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band ) The four note riff will stay with you long after the song has ended. Hopefully the lyrics will too for those who need them.

One of the best songs, from one of the best songwriters ever. Just too beautiful. Over the last few years I've gotten to see him live a couple of times. I hope to a lot more!

I believe this is the best, most haunting, most moving song, that Rodney Crowell ever wrote and performed. It makes me think of my brother's coming out process and how blessed I am that he's my brother and lives five minutes from me.

Rodney Crowell is in the same song writing ballonbasket, that kris Kristofferson has been flying in so high up in the sky. It just took me a lot longer to realize it. If it wasn't for Emmylou Harris's beautiful songs, I may never have discovered Rodney at all? I get more impressed with Rodney as each day goes sliding by.

@@picknfish Thanks Pickandfish. I've admired Townes Van Zandt, since I can't remember when. "If I needed you" and "Pancho and Lefty," are way up there on my list.

The work of 'Steuart Smith'... ahhhh.....plays next to Joe Walsh. His first project with Rodney Crowell, after leaving as studio musician in Nashville.
