Ethidium bromide binds only to the dsDNA. In DNA fingerprinting we separate the strands of by using alkaline solution like DMSO so that probe can bind to complementary VNTR.

Those who wanna know ethidium bromide can be added in the DNA when it was under gel electrophoresis, this will make them radioactive, then blotting occurs which result in the radioactive DNA to be printed on to the nitro paper. ethidium bromide shines under UV radiation so we can make a model of it on paper and compare it.

Radioactive PROBE is used to identify a particular sequence of DNA but Ethidium bromide stains whole lot of DNA to make it visible in Agrose gel . so how could we find the particular sequence we are searching for? That's why jo sequence chahiye specifically usi ko tag kiya jata h..
