Thank you for taking the time to providing this awesome series of videos! I got more out of you’re videos than at the manufacturer’s website.I ordered and installed one in my 2018 F250 XLT SD. The truck didn’t come with many options, so I’ve been customizing it as I go. I also took you’re advice and picked up a Harmon Spark. Everything is running nice and smooth. On my F150 because I do not use the 12Volt power port on the dash, I removed the socket plug and installed a pair of high power usb ports the support both Android and Carplay, and it hides neatly under that handy door. Works very well and to be honest is in a more usable location if you ask me.

On my initial install, when transferring the climate control boards from the OEM unit to the PX6, I dropped one of the Torx bits on the board. I didn't think it did any damage, but when I installed my my AC/Heating was not working. I took the unit apart and found the when the Torx bit hit the board, it had sheered a chip from the board :-). I found replacements on ebay.

Did you ever use the PX3 unit? It's what I had and while overall it wasn't a bad first attempt, there were some issues that continuously cropped up. 1) the wifi connection was OMG slow, as in less than a 1MB connection at times (while my phone which it was attached to had full 4g). Turns out it had an old wifi standard on it. 2) Sound: No base when playing music/videos through android apps.... like at all. If you switched to the sync pass through and played audio that way, no problem, full base. However once you switched to the pass through, you would no longer have any sound through the android apps. 3)Customer service: Where do I start, it pretty much didn't exist. Spent days trying to troubleshoot the problems and work the fixes given but then getting back in touch with them was almost impossible. Wouldn't return messages etc. Then when you finally did get in touch, they would have you attempt to do the same things you had already done, so apparently no record of previous actions. This does not paint them in a very good light but it's the only 12" android touch screen that supports full sync 2/3 and I think they know it. At this point I'm debating taking another shot and upgrading to the px6 model or going back to a traditional double din.

I passed on the PX3 due to all the issues. Even though the PX6 still has some quirks, overall its a great unit.

@@castarmax1970 Yep. Even though there are still a few issues (the screen will just go dead at times), it was a great upgrade. Just like any infotainment system, you get used to the functions and it becomes 2nd nature choosing what you want. Once it warms up a bit, I plan to make a follow-up, stay tuned.

@@gtibbot THX for responding. I have NOT heard good things about any of these products. I know my phone, laptop, and Ipad need to cool if left in the car in summer. That is also a concern for me. I can deal with the learning curve, thats fun. It's functionality I'm concerned with.

Have you run into any issue with Bluetooth phone calls. When I am parked I can hear people when they call but when I am driving and pick up a call people can hear me but they come through my truck speakers all distorted. I did not hook up the external mic. Phoenix seemed to think installing the external mic and the external speaker would fix things. I am connected to Bluetooth on my sync 3 and the new unit

Hello Gary like your video I just ordered the px6 unit for my 18 f150. I seen on Phoenixs video that the CD module was left in place. Does this unit come with detailed instructions? And why did you have to take the CD module out to put it back?

Todd, even though the CD Player can't be used since the front bezel of the PX6 covers it, it still needs to wired into the system. I assume the CD player must stay installed to utilize the MCU/CPU. The reason you have to remove and reinstall the CD Player is the PX6 wiring harness, the OEM harness gets unplugged, the PX6 harness then plugs into the CD Player and the CD player then gets plugged into the PX6 wiring harness.

Can you hook the tablet's BlueTooth to the F150's BT for sound? How did you hook up the tablet's sound?

You can hook up the same Bluetooth Device to the Sync system & the PX6. The PX6 has a amplifier built in and the included wiring harness then uses your trucks speakers. Keep in mind, you then have 2 amps, one for the SYNC and one for the PX6, so there is a learning curve of which amp is active. If you want to listen to a streaming service on the PX6, you can't use the SYNC system screen since it will change to the SYNC amp. But, you can listen to a SYNC source and use the PX6, but the audio will be from the SYNC system. As an example, you can listen to an FM station from the SYNC system, but have WAZE showing via the PX6, since you are using the SYNC amp, you would not get any audio alerts for WAZE.

@@gtibbot I don't know about you, but I rarely use the sync system. I stream music from the PX6 and take all phone calls via the Bluetooth on the PX6. I found that swapping back and forth usually exposes some of the quirkiness that these units have. However, I would rather have the option to use Sync than not have it with a Linkswell unit. I've had the unit since fall of 2019 and I'm pleased overall. I've even been able to add a nice aftermarket audio system with limited issues. 3-way components in the front. 2-way components in the rear. 10 inch subwoofer. Sounds great. Thanks for posting your videos. I've enjoyed them.

The echo auto will only connect to the Sync system, it doesn't seem to be compatible with the PX6. The workaround is to install the Alexa app on the tablet and drag the Alexa shortcut to the home screen of the launcher you are using.

Very reflective and I think a screen protector would help. I tried to put a generic protector on without much success, so I took it off. Now that the sun is out longer it might become an issue again and will have to try something else.

Does this replace the APMI also. The Sync 3 sucks in my 2016 F150 Lariat. Constant drops and communication issues.

The OEM APMI is left intact and operates as normal. The PX6 connects with the OEM APMI so it control funtions like climate control, ambient lighting, etc. But, with a WiFi connection it can use Google Maps & Waze for navigation and any audio (or video) streaming service without the OEM APMI/

Don't buy it. I did and I'm now asking for an exchange or refund. It has to be reset daily and as of 7/12/2020 I only have sound on the Ford sync radio or Bluetooth from my phone and their customer service is horrible. They never answer questions directly just the same ole questions over and over and when I said something about that the got very smart. The only time the asked me what was wrong was when I left a negative comment on their review on their website but after I gave them the order number the never got back with me. Go with Linkswell trust me.

Antoine Gresham I link the ability to still use sync but if it has stability issues and since the customer service sucks it is not worth it. I am most likely going to purchase the Linkswell model. Linkswells model is not compatible with sync but I have not heard of any complaints plus since it is a stand alone radio I can take the f150 t style radio and remove the radio’s bezel for a custom fit on my 1999 Mustang.

They are moved to the top of the bezel, facing upward. It makes them a bit hard to see which button is which, but its not inconvenient.

I may have missed something across your videos, but I haven't seen any references to your first/failed installation. I'd be very interested to hear about what ended-up being the problem there, so I know what to watch out for when I do my '16 f-150 install.

Silly mistake on my part. When I was transferring the climate control boards, I dropped a T-Bit on one of the boards and didn't think anything about it. When I installed the unit, none of my climate controls would function. After removing the unit and inspecting, the T-Bit must of hit just right and it clipped a chip off of the climate control board. I ordered a used bezel from eBay that had the electronics I need to fix.

Try this: Go into the Settings>More settings. More setting is the Google Settings, find System, under system is Date & Time. Check to see if your time zone is correctly set and then turn on Automatic Date & Time, hope this helps

If you want a good working radio do not buy this product. It looks beautiful don’t get me wrong but the way it performs is extremely sub par for a radio that cost around $700. If it was $250 to $300 I would have put up with its issues. One day it works ok then the next day I have to reboot it or change a settings. I tap the screen nothing happens, I tap again nothing, then super delayed, all the taps register at once. I’m returning it because I’m not happy with. Since it’s a bit heavy the return shipping via ups is expensive they told me since it was for personal reasons they would not cover the shipping. There are too many issues to list
