This was my first phone and it is great! But camera and video wise like he said not the best although outside pictures are perfectly respectful. When using web browsing it was a bit slow and cramped but still ok to use for a few minutes. Once you have the Facebook app downloaded that works wonderfully. Texting is a breeze with quick easy access to your conversations from home screen and doesn't take long to get quick at typing with the buttons. It has a bit of weight to it but I personally like a phone that's not about to fly away! Doesn't break easily as dropped mine many times on concrete and the worst that's gonna happen is it pops open and battery comes out along with a few scratches. But all around a nice simple phone great for your child's first as is hard to break and does all basic tasks pretty well.

(speaking from experience) The battery life is very good. The display is way too reflective, trying to find a dark spot to use your phone in the park is not fun. Feels soft and nice in hand, but for a price - the angles are too smooth making it easy to drop it, even pressing the buttons a bit harder makes it jump sideways, very annoying. The music quality is great, not so much the voice, decent voice quality at best. You can use the internet, but only text and photo pages, oh also has facebook but videos are out of the question. You will need a micro sd card for extra memory, because the basic memory runs out very fast. The camera is actually great as long as you dont twitch when you take a pic. It does take a while to load the images, but you can zoom in and the quality is amazing. The video camera on the other hand... sucks! You can use it to read a few web pages, listen to music and take nice pictures, but remember that It's overall a mostly a phone, so dont expect anything more from it.

@ThePacmanMaster123 I'd go with the Sony Ericsson Cedar personally, the C2-01 only has 3G speeds of up to 384kbps whereas the Cedar has HSDPA up to 7.2mbps and HSUPA up to 2mbps. Plus the Cedar has a slightly bigger screen.

@StylinRed my first phone was a w910i. I personally did not have any problems with the os. Sony phones have way sleeker designs and UI that really caters to the youths. It is personal preference :)

Does anyone know, how to get the phone to use 3G UMTS when surfing in the vast Internet? My Nokia C2-01 registers to the UMTS network as soon as I turn it on. But the actual data streaming is only in GPRS or EDGE bandwith possible to do. Has anyone a clue? Dont get me wrong, I dont wanna use it for surfing, I want to use my new Ipod touch with it (connected via bluetooth) for that!

It has to be a 3 pole TRS Jack connector at its end because 4 pole TRRS won't work. The sound quality will be very bad and the phone will skip all the songs you want to play

If you want big screen, why don't you just buy the latest smartphone instead of the samsung genoa? You'll be up to date with modern tech. unless you can't afford a smartphone (I don't mean to be offensive) or you just want a cheap but genuine phone

i think some of the kids on here are confused about the market this phone is targeting... you realize this phone is basically free right? someone who wants this phone has 0, ZERO, interest in say a $800 Iphone or a $400 N8 or to be attached to any contracts....
