I know over 200 people (the high majority of them have iPhones) and they would still use an iPhone even if the apple watch worked for both (that includes me too). And hypothetically you would sell more than 10 more apple watches before losing 1 iPhone customers. Imessage and the quality of apps and the legit status is the reason most will always have iPhones.

This is not bending the rules. This is exactly how its used. The apple watch can only be used with an iPhone and he does the same. Just an additional Android phone that you use everyday. and the added step of having to share hotspot for the watch. Overtime, after you get attached to the watch, you WILL end up buying an iPhone for the ease of access.

A option to consider for music is to pair AirPods or another Bluetooth headphone set with the iphone. Then you can use Apple Music on the iphone and play music from the Apple Watch, listen on your AirPods and use your Android data connection. Then you have volume control on the watch.

Thanks very much. Works really well for me. I need the real estate of the Galaxy Fold and anyway much prefer the Google ecosystem compared to the abhorrent jail sentence of Apple. However, Apple do make some great products and the watch is an example that just hasn't been emulated by any of the clones. I love all the health features and this system works just great. Not really expensive either as the iphone 7 is cheap as chips on ebay....(you need ios 13 btw if you're using the S4 watch)

There are ways to do it. It won’t directly connect to the s23 ultra. It would require you to have an IPhone on Wi-Fi, Apple Watch paired with that iPhone, and a computer. Phonebuff does a video on it. Tedious but it will work.

This is actually interesting to for me. I have a Magenta Plan with T-Mobile through my company and I'm getting a 3rd line added for free later today. My wife has an Iphone 8 but wants to switch to Android because she wants to break out of the Apple cage. With that said, we will have 3 lines for the price of two, but with all the bells/whistles a T-Mobile plan can have (hotspot, etc...). I think she even has an older 6s Iphone we can use as one of the end-points for the watch, so we may just conveniently have everything we need to make this work. Otherwise, what other smart watches would you recommend that isn't Apple? I agree, the Apple Watch is a banger of a smart watch, but the closest I hear as far as comparison is a Samsung smartwatch, but since I don't much care for that I don't really know much about them. Great video and maybe it's something I'll have to attempt this weekend!

Instead of customers demanding a solution for it to work with every device, like a normal piece of technology should, (the existential meaning of technology is convenience) This "work around" doesn't even accomplish anything. How to use it with an Android? Basically you cannot. So whats the only option? use it with an iPhone. and you believe just buying an old iPhone and connecting it to the watch, using the hotspot from the android device to keep it powerd is a valid option? You can take things one step further to get iMessage notifications on your Android phone. You can buy a cheap used Apple computer and download the AirMessage app on your Android device. Alternatively, instead of buying an apple computer, you can use Virtual Box to emulate and Apple computer.

Google Voice is an option if you don't have T-Mobile Digits. You can't make calls with it on the Apple Watch. As someone that switches back and forth between an iPhone X and a Galaxy Note9 depending on my mood but uses the Galaxy Note9 way more this has been my reality for a while. I also have a Gear S3 and I prefer the Apple Watch to it. The problem is when on my Note the Apple Watch is gimped no matter what. More often than not I just use my Apple Watch and Note9 and tether the watch to the phone over WiFi. The Apple Watch is way better than the Gear S3.
