From the thumbnail I thought this was some gimicky harp turn table. Each string having it's own finger board makes this a bonafide instrument. Very unique, very cool.

Not sure how crazy this is, or if its just a turn table and a harp in the same table. Is there a deeper relationship? Also would be cool to know the rest of the setup
@KitunduStudio2 күн бұрын
@@arkdmind vibrations from the strings can be amplified via the turntable cartridge. As a dj playing with musicians I was looking for a way to extend what’s already possible when playing a turntable percussively by adding strings and exploring possibilities. In this case, the turntable is playing a serato record and controlling mp3 files on my laptop. Everything can be run thru fx and I have some loopers in the mix too so I can build compositions spontaneously. Thanks for watching.

how does tapping on the tone arm play a note? And are you playing a beat by tapping on the frame of the instrument itself?
@benmoreau68993 күн бұрын
I'm pretty sure the stylus is picking up the vibrations from the tone arm every time it's struck. Those record needles are pretty sensitive, you'll even hear your footsteps if your turntable isn't properly isolated.
@dollarrecstapes2 күн бұрын
Hip hop DJs have been using stylus vibration like that for percussive sounds since the 90s and 00s. I'm more interested in the harp part of the instrument! We want/need a breakdown, but I would never blame him for not sharing it, because this is an INSANE patent if it can ever come to market. I hope the inventor invites turntablists with musical aptitude to come try a demonstration, at least for "exposure" reasons.

I have so many questions
@aeko23 сағат бұрын
I don't understand. Are the strings somehow playing / gating the record somehow? Or are the strings just being sent out to the amp with the phono signal? Is this just two separate instruments in one package or are they interlinked?

So... it's just a string instrument housing a turntable. I'm assuming it's more of an art piece instead of combining the two to work together as an instrument? Because I don't see the point of that thing.
