Gurio is a friend and customer of mine, known him for 20+ years. It is nearly impossible to understand him on the phone, as he rambles and gets on a tangent every two minutes, lol! Last time he visited, he called up Don Shipley on the phone just so I could hear them reminisce about Gurio being on the cover of Soldier of Fortune. Gurio is one of the most caring and generous friends I have ever had and is 100% legit. He keeps trying to get me to retire and ride motorcycles with him in Florida, lol!

I'm seeing that lol. I've been wondering ever since I found his channel how he treats or reacts to actual Seals! I imagine with his seek and destroy mentality towards phonies that it bleeds into his interaction with Actual Seals. It would appear that unless he knows a Seal personally through interaction he treats them as phonies until they've been proven legit. Kinda reminds me of our judicial system Guilty until you've proven beyond a doubt that you are innocent.

@Electric Eye Slide: One of my best high school friends came to America from Italy in 1966. Paulo Paoletti. The only thing he could say in English was."Can I please bum a cigarette". We're still friend to this day & keep in touch. After we graduated high school in 1969, Paul was drafted in 1970 into the U.S Army even though he wasn't a citizen & immediately stationed in Vietnam for a tour of combat duty. Being a year younger I enlisted in the Air Force in Jan 1971, and couldn't have asked for better assignments. First in the Cascade Mountains of Oregon where I started a family, two years in the Azores where I lived off base with my family, and finally on the Oregon coast where we lived in base housing. It's been 52 years, and Paul still has nightmares about Vietnam.

Uhhh, I was being sarcastic. Shipley was talking with someone that sounded a little scattered. I talk with people like this all the time. They are incapable of carrying on a conversation because they can't, won't or lack the social ability to LISTEN so they tromp over anyone trying to interview them, giving disjointed and incomplete answers to only partially asked questions that they don't fully understand, along with a helping of irrelevant information. The situation is only exacerbated when they are speaking on the telephone. Mr. Vincenti sounds like he is a little forgetful and perhaps hard of hearing, and a rambling talker, which isn't uncommon for people in their 70s who suddenly feel like they've made a connection. Also, a lot of people who have spoken English as a second language for decades can suddenly start to struggle a bit with it past a certain age, further adding to the communication problem. Chief Shipley could have exercised more patience in teasing out the information required...but then as he mentions, perhaps it really was a long weekend and he was just tired himself. He did get a bit more respectful after he confirmed Mr. Vicenti's bona fides.
@scottnathanphoto
@scottnathanphoto 3 жыл бұрын
@@lynnpoint6395 Here's the thing. Vincente didn't deserve to be ambushed and have his service record questioned, nor be interrogated by a random smug goon making faces into the camera. Don does some good work here, but let's call it what it is. He was a prick to this man.

It's pretty interesting listening to a legit Navy Seal frustrate the hell out of another Navy Seal. He just about drove Don up the wall with his last name. Made sure to be one class off to add difficulty to Don's life as well.
@cole590
@cole590 2 жыл бұрын
Honestly it was the other guy and Dons own fault he became so frustrated. The guy accusing him of being a fake seal fucked it up at first and then later on in the video where Don was talking to the Italian guy he asked him to spell his last name, He started to spell it and Don mistook him to be spelling his first name which frustrated Don and he said he didn't care about his first name to just spell his last but he was actually spelling his last name. Don being impatient and the other guy at the beginning of the call is what caused that whole debacle

How about them apples, I want to see the whole bars faces when Don says he's legit, naming off the badasses that Don knows and being on the cover of soldier of Fortune. Don pretty much knew right after he said 7101 and immediately became respectful, cool to see.

Quite refreshing! When asked about people in his class, he knew several names, knew that one person died and asked for the contact details of another, hoping that he would still be alive. Normally they can't name one single person in their class and they usually get the dates wrong. Such a cool and relaxed guy!

That was a surprise for sure! Dude is legit AF and even had his picture on the front cover of soldier of fortune. Dayum! With that language barrier I am guessing he mentioned being in the Navy, the guy probed further and he mentioned SEAL Teams and young buck called you up hoping to get a bust of his own but got an education instead! Excellent! Would love to see more "oh shit, you're legit sir" videos. We just found out that language barrier + loud Bar = Damn hard time even if you are legit. haha!

I admittedly clicked on Shipley's video automatically without reading the title. Former bud/s dud here and I lived in L'Italia for several years... Just listening to him; based on a few knowledgably tid-bits I was convinced he was legit immediately. Thank you Shipley for, not only taking the time, but rationalizing a bunch of different variables and being human. I've ran into fake Seals and I've ran into real ones... It's actually easy to recognize legitimacy if you've been involved and hard for others (even with the internet). Thank you for what you do. I'm a bit different; I make the bad ones aware that it's bad Juju to claim something you are not and know nothing about. I have not met a person yet that doesn't catch my hint or I would have sent their name in. Some people just wish they are looked upon by people as more than they are... it's human nature... I wished I was Aquaman but before that my parents told me I can be anything I want to be and I wanted to be a dolphin. As I got older and reality set in Aquaman and Navy SEAL was still on the table. I'm thankful I at least attempted but I hope people understand - find a way to be you and give credit to those that put in the work and endured the pain to become something you idolize. Attempt to carry those characteristics you want people to recognize in you that are similar to your perfect you. Please do not tarnish their sacrifices by stealing their valor you did not earn. It's called respect. And disrespect is bad karma looking straight at you. LOL, buon karma persone!

One guy from South Korea get his citizenship just after basic. Was another guy from India who was to be a medic. I was 88M as couldn’t do any mos that needed security clearance. Other guy from England he already had his US citizenship and he was able to be signals as he got his security clearance etc. we live back in the UK now but it was a great experience.

About time you got a real one - nice ending. Thanks for you're service, Don. I don't just mean while in the service, but more what you and Dianne do to protect the hard earned honor of those who served from self-serving liars and thieves. Nobody's forcing you guys to do all this work but here you are, year after year just doing it.
