Tony Roslund had a neat trick for holding foam board reflectors in one of his videos. If you have a baby wall plate laying around, gaffer tape it to one side of the board and put the pin into the spigot hole of an umbrella holder.

Very useful, thanks. Could the refector clamp be fitted to a tripod?

Every time I go to Lowe's for various things for photography I always pick up some Irwin A-clamps. Strong, super affordable, and because of photog life they sometimes go walkabout.So I always grab a few when I'm there.

Thank you Joe. I recently bought a video head with a ⅜ hole in the side. I'm wondering what I can use it for. Specific hints anyone? I would find it handy to mount a tablet or monitor to display larger what's displayed on the back of the main camera, or perhaps video or photograph it.

You are very welcome OneEyedPhotographer! I use that socket to mount my receiver for my wireless mic. You could totally use it to mount a tablet or a monitor. Take a look at Rock Solid Articulating Arm with Center Lock www.tethertools.com/product/rock-solid-articulating-arm-with-center-lock/ Something like this will give you lots of versatility with how you mount it.

I agree though grip gear isn't sexy like cameras, lenses and lights, it's essential. Light stands are basic pieces of grip gear but are often misunderstood. As I often shoot without assistance, I'm always looking for pieces of gear that can allow me to work quickly, safely and maintain as small a foot print as possible. I'll be checking out the latest B & H Catalog too! =D

Thanks for this Joe. I was a big fan of photographic guides on KZbin but got annoyed with all the sponsored episodes and senseless small talks. I'm in the US at the moment, and would like to ask your opinion where I can get great bnew/open box deals on lenses, speedlights and other gears? I'm on a Sony A6000, and looking for an awesome 16mm or 30mm Sigma 1.4 as well.

I was just looking at the Neewer heavy duty clamp to hold a reflector. How well does the clamp hold a 36" reflector? That's only if you have tried it on a popup reflector. Great video! I was having a hard time figuring out which clamp to get for my reflector. Thank you!
@theJoeEdelman
@theJoeEdelman 6 жыл бұрын
Holds it great Bao Nguyen! But do factor in - the pop-up reflectors are material so it is not going to hold it on an angle like I did with the foam core here: 3:13 it will hold it vertically like you see in this photo: 3:18

Joe Edelman thank you for the response. That's what I was afraid of. I used my 24 inch soft box as a lower eye lighter. "Use what you have."

Thanks Joe....which spigot and ball head do you use with the AD200 on a light stand? the one sold with this kit is not very reliable.

As a follow up to this, maybe a video comparing building industry "autopoles" to the overpriced and underperforming ones sold to photographers? 😂

Hadn't considered that, Svein Skogen. I will look into it because I actually love autopoles.
