Tyra LOVES to talk about how on the Tyra show she was body positive but here we see her body shaming that model that has a beautiful body. My blood is boiling. The hypocrisy.
@LuciferMorningstar-qq4nv4 жыл бұрын
And shamed a girl for doing Playboy and called her a prostitute 👌
@malaysiafreelon32324 жыл бұрын
Tyra most definitely was not shaming her. She said that it's all about choices and that she can't place the blame on anyone else. How is that shaming? Keenyah gained a considerable amount of weight (15-20 lbs) in a short period of time, which is completely unacceptable and unprofessional for a new model, or anyone in the entertainment industry for that matter. If she was in the real world and gained that much weight that quickly, her contract would be ripped to shreds before she could even think about an explanation. The judges were being realistic because even if the girl doesn't win, it is still good to have knowledge about the industry. Her body is beautiful no matter what, but the industry she wishes to be apart of simply will not accept her (as a SUPERMODEL) at that size. There is nothing that anyone, even Tyra Banks, could do to change that.
@LuciferMorningstar-qq4nv4 жыл бұрын
@@malaysiafreelon3232 then perhaps she shouldn’t have acted like she was changing it? That was the whole point. And the worse part is that Tyra’s show really could’ve made at least some changes, have some influence on the modeling world if she approached this show with that intention. But her intention was to make a hit reality TV with a lot of drama and advertising. Which is fine, she can do whatever she wants but it’s funny how she acted like she was this revolutionary model who will change the game.
@malaysiafreelon32324 жыл бұрын
@@LuciferMorningstar-qq4nv The thing is, Tyra was somewhat changing the industry or at least giving girls opportunities they wouldn't have received otherwise. Even at Keenyah's starting weight, which is the weight at which she was accepted into the show, she would've been told to lose weight in the real world. Believe it or not, Keenyah was ALREADY considered a little big for an average model, and Tyra was trying to change this by accepting size 4-6 girls (which is considered too big in the industry) onto the show. If anything, the show sacrificed the better model time and time again for a model who was a success story or different from the rest. Neither Whitney (cycle 10) nor Nyle (cycle 22) were the best out of their groups but the judges picked them because it would be better to have change in the industry. I could name plenty of other times where this has happened, too. The show was revolutionary and ahead of its time in terms of inclusivity and people will never accept that because the modelling industry itself is inherently destructive. You don't hate the show, nor do you just dislike Tyra. The show is simply a small reflection of what the modelling industry actually is.
@LuciferMorningstar-qq4nv4 жыл бұрын
@@malaysiafreelon3232 funny you should say that thought. I don’t like the show. And I have reasons for that: poor and many uninteresting photoshoots; drama for the sake of drama; I didn’t really get anything apart from the drama from this show where as I really hoped that since there are judges there would be more constructive criticism and interesting information to know just for fun. The show doesn’t stand the test of time and fails in so many ways. I don’t like Tyra either. I don’t hate her by any means, she literally has no impact on my life obviously since we never met, but I don’t like her just because she is too.. just too much I guess. She’s not the type of person you aspire to be despite acknowledging her accomplishments. Some of her catwalks are some of my favorites because she is so beautiful and knows what she’s doing but she’s not the person I’d choose as a role model or even as someone to look up to. A lot of problematic behavior, too much hypocrisy and pretense. So it’s not just the modeling. They chose those contestants because they wanted to appear progressive. That’s the thing. Appear. Not be. That’s my issue with this. They knew they weren’t as good as other models but they wanted to appear progressive.

I never saw any outside confirmation that tall, broad-shouldered, fat and muscular women can be attractive. And at that age, I didn't recognize the strength of my body. Just its bigness. And big was fat and fat was bad. I felt miserable when I was the fattest person in a group, and I later learned that I would misjudge and think I was bigger than I was. I would freak out on stairs when someone came up behind me because I was afraid they'd think I was fat and slow, then get winded trying to walk quicker without breathing audibly. And the disordered eating. That was a big thing for a long time. I don't know how it happened still, but one day it was like a switch flipped and I was able to see my body positively for the first time in my adult life. I think the rise of the body positivity movement definitely helped. Learning about anti-fat bias in medical research and practice. Listening to proud fat people who won't apologize for their bodies. @malaysiafreelon32324 жыл бұрын
No one said that Keenyah was fat. She gained a considerable amount of weight in a short time frame, which is incredibly unprofessional for a model. It’s not even just the trauma they caused a lot of these girls, it’s also about the effect these moments had on viewers. I was a young teen when this show aired. I was struggling with my body image and self confidence. This show literally INSPIRED me to seek out horrific “thinsporation” or “thinspo” online; I joined pro-ana groups and followed “pro-ana/mia” blogs because I wanted to be beautiful like the girls on the show, and a perfectly thin waif like the judges said they wanted. I’m not saying this show _caused_ my eating disorder because I was already carrying trauma and body image mental health issues, but it really did contribute in a major way to my actions that followed. I became obsessed with making collages from high fashion magazines like Vogue and Harper’s Bazzar, etc., to keep me focused on what I thought I wanted to be like. I just wonder how many other vulnerable young girls/women this show damaged outside of the contestants. It was toxic as hell, and I hope no one ever creates another show like it. I used to look up to Tyra SO much, but as I became a woman and mother, I realized (all too late) she was nothing more than a scammer who used her influence to create a show centered around herself, and she couldn’t have cared less about how it hurt those involved with it, from the models to the viewers. Because of this asinine show I discovered the same online communities of pro ana/mia that you did and I can honestly say it completely destroyed my life for far too long. I am now very much so involved in the true body positivity movement which became of the utmost importance to me when I became an aunt to 3 beautiful girls(and then eventually also my nephews too)I did not in any way want them to see what I was doing to myself and think they should do the same. I feel so bad for the models that were on this show, the judges are so mean to them

It’s hard for them to get modeling jobs after they’re in this shoe because the industry sees them as “reality tv stars” and not high fashion models

Well I have news for you. The real industry is worse, so you might as well feel bad for every single model in the industry, because they are all told to lose weight, get plastic surgery, and more. All ANTM did was give the public a look into the modelling industry. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

The photography on this one was actually good but the outfits were unforgivable. We can never have both

They were constantly talking about Kenya's weight and she received gluttony in the seven deadly sins and the elephant in this photoshoot. Jay said on his chat it was random. I was like REALLY GURL

The abuse that Keenya was dealt this season was uncalled for. She was such a sweet girl and she was the prettiest girl this season. Ugh I remember being like 8 years old and thinking. “Wait what’s wrong with her? Why are they picking at her?”
@jessicag8214 жыл бұрын
I remember this one! The girl that they gave the elephant part to, it was basically like Tyra wanted her gone because she liked food. It was this ongoing "oh my gosh, did you see how much so-and-so ate? That's not model like!" thing
