I own the 18 f/2, 23 and 35 f2 and 50mm f/0.95 Canon rangefinder (with adapter) and love them all. 2 days ago I was photographing the Soviet era shipyard in Gdansk, Poland, a city by the Baltic Sea, where the very first bombardment of the World War 2 took place and at this very shipyard also first civilian rebellion started against Polish government, a government that took its orders from Soviet Moscow back then. So it was historically super important place. We were in the area for a wedding so I spent a little time near the ship yard. The 18mm was not enough. I am now officially in the market for a wider lens. Thanks to Fuji, options are not so limited. Will keep you posted!

While not of the same series, I have the 18mm f2 and 27mm 2.8. When I purchased the three lens F2 series plus the 16mm I thought that I'd be putting the 18 & 27 up for sale, but so far I haven't. I've found that I use the 'Cron series on my X-T2 which I keep in a big bag with the rest of my landscape / cityscape gear. The 18mm + 27mm are in a smaller 'grab and go' bag with my older X-E2. Rule #1 in camera gear hoarding: Never sell your gear, instead rationalize ways to keep it all :)
@keithjohnson28634 жыл бұрын
I've been using the 27mm on my X-T10, I like it so much I decided to use it in a small unassuming bag with my X-T30 that I can always have with me. I bought (at a discount) the 18mm and the XC 15-45 zoom as the other lenses for that bag. These are probably Fujifilm's three smallest lenses.

Great review.! They all have their place. I have the 23 which is a great “walk around”, and the 50 is versatile for portraits. I don’t have it yet, but like shooting a 35 for events. 8:05 that makes no sense. When you use a 90 f/2 on a crop sensor it behaves like a 135 f/3 on a full frame. It's basically a totally different lens when on crop.

135/2 light never change, DoF /3
@alexverbeke22284 жыл бұрын
@@melonyigranaty7968 light does not change, ISO performance does, so the 90/2 is a 135/3.
@msandersen4 жыл бұрын
The FF Equivalence is just a comparison tool. The size of the sensor doesn't change the characteristics of the lens, just how much is imaged. If you stand in the same spot, the only difference between the FF and APS-C 90mm/f2 is the framing (in terms of image look). But because APS-C is cropped, we tend to move further away to frame it the same, hence the bokeh is less for the same framing. From the same spot, a 135mm at f/3 on a FF would have the same approximate framing and depth of field.
@bigbadjan4 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much. That gave me a great idea of the different focal lengths. Currently contemplating wether to go for a more wide angle (12 mm) lens or for the 50mm. I’m currently using an analog camera with a 40mm equivalent. As for my Fuji I’ve got the 27mm as a carry around. So far I’m doing mostly kind of street photography but it would be interesting to do something different.

what about the 18mm f2, which is more compact than the 16 f2.8?
@KristiGay19735 жыл бұрын
Stuart Weir that’s a crap lens. Fuji is currently redesigning it. Crap by Fuji standards so better than most manufacturers, but still crap compared to other Fuji lenses.
@StuartWeir5 жыл бұрын
@@KristiGay1973 what makes it 'crap'? I have yet to see any sample photos that show that it's not a great lens. That's not to say "you're wrong" or something like that, but if you think about the history of photography, most iconic photographs were taken on lenses that are less sharp than the 18mm (if thats the case with the lens). All that being said, here's hoping for a 18mm f2 (or 2.8) R WR
@murmor68905 жыл бұрын
@@StuartWeir In terms of IQ it slightly looses out against the other primes that are around that focal length and in terms of compactness it is quite compact but not as compact as the 27mm. A true pancake like the 27mm makes a difference, but the 18mm compared to the Fujicrons (except the 90mm) not that much. What really kills it for me is the price, it is a quite expensive lens compared to most Fujicrons and the 27mm and there isn't really anything to warrant that.
