The grass is always greener somewhere, but working in western New York, I really envious of your long vistas, dramatic landforms, and dark skies!

I feel your pain. Last week I had to hike in about 1.6 miles at a Texas state park to get my Astro shots. I pulled a wagon with all my gear on a rocky hiking trail in 97 degree heat with 65% humidity. Great job and video.

Well, I enjoyed your "boring rambling" video immensely. Great shots and video scenes. Happy to hear that Camera Lady is getting back into the groove. Aren't we always struggling with some aspect of photography. I thought that was normal. LOL

I really enjoy watching your videos at the end of a day, because your video style is very relaxing. Prefer it way more than a loud and hectic video with tons of jump-cuts. Looking forward to the next one 🤗

We stumbled across City of Rocks on way back home from Moab. We had stayed in the Gila Forest for 2 nights. Stopped at Silver city to do laundry. Not knowing where to stay we drove into the park and got a full hook up for $14. Only stayed one night, but the wife said we have to come back for a full week. I tried to get some astro shots but didn't set up my camera correctly, wildlife, sunset and landscape were on point. Thanks for bringing us alone.

19:07 I can relate. Only difference is my wife DEFINITELY isn’t camping or going that early in the AM with me 😂 I’m always alone with a backpack full of gear and my thoughts. 😊

Yeah, if she wasn't out there working, then she wouldn't be out there either, but she does whatever's necessary to film the videos. Surprisingly, she does like the rtt though. She said it's like her little comfy fort off the ground and she likes reading up there, so whatever gets her out, I'll make it happen, lol.

@@BrentHall you’re a good husband and a smart one! 😆 Enjoy the beautiful desert skies. ✨ 🌵 🌅 😍. Awesome photos by the way! The one with the circular stars 🤩 I would print that one on my pro1k and hang that in my office. 🙌🏾

That astrophotography part was captivating. The landscape stuff - well, at least it is a phenomenal landscape with those rhyolite rocks (ha, they are in my memory now, having watched several videos from you from this region). And struggling to find a composition could be the perfect description of my own attempts at landscape photography. Good to hear that Camera Lady is getting better.

Another great video Brent. As a Vancouverite I can't believe you saw aurora way down there! Thanks for sharing.

Lone desert wanderer. Your time lapses and meteor shots were very impressive. The star trails with the aurora and the meteor streaking through, looks like a clock face. You should make a wall clock out of that image.

These are my favorite type videos. I enjoy watching your process. It lets me know I am not the only one who struggles to find something. I was just out at the David Mountains in far West Texas last weekend for Milky Way photography. I got some great pictures but after seeing your Timelapse I’m kicking myself for not doing one. A missed opportunity so I’ll have to do it next time I’m in dark skies. What is the Bortle number at the City of Rocks? Thanks for the videos and I hope Camera Lady gets to feeling 100% soon.

I went down to the Cosmic Campground in Gila sunday night, gorgeous storms in the evening, but didn't actually make it out of the car till 3am to start shooting. Didn't see as many as my camera saw, and didn't even see the Aurora with my eyes. Think I should have brought something around 35mm, most of my 18 and 24mm felt too wide, or maybe the meteors too small? My dog also got bit by a Rattler at the VLA on the way home (got him to the vet for anti venom treatment, and he's recovering, but very scary monday afternoon), so just now getting things imported to see everything. I love the astro/lifestyle photos including your subi camper. Well, time to go learn more about astro and aurora editing!
@BrentHall4 ай бұрын
I almost went out there too, but the forecast for the city if rocks looked a bit safer, so we went there instead. Hopefully I'll get back out to the cosmic campground soon for some deep astro stuff. Glad your dog is recovering well, that's definitely always scary!

@ronbyram38804 ай бұрын
how did you setup your time lapse?
@BrentHall4 ай бұрын
I just got my composition and exposure dialed in and then set the internal intervalometer how I wanted and let it run. For the first couple of timelapses I did while the moon was out, I knew I only had 2 hours before the moon went down, so I set the interval to like 2 sec or something short like that. For the last two, I wanted them to run all night so I set the interval longer, for like 15-20 sec or something, and I think those two ran for maybe 4 hours-ish.
