What a gorgeous location. Beautiful shots. I loved all the trees and different colours, esp that one gorgeous tree you were walking towards. Could you please leave your images on display for perhaps one more second or even half a second when you pan out on them? Interestingly I watched a couple of Matthews videos and subscribed because of you. One of the things I noticed immediately is that he leaves his images in his videos just a smidge longer than anyone else that I watch, and it really adds to the presentation and gives you just a spec more time to get into the picture. Just a suggest. 😬

You go to all these great places and I was wondering, on average, how many hours/distance are these places from where you live? I really enjoy your videos, they make me want to book a flight to Scotland even though I live in an area of equal beauty.
@kimgrantphotography7 жыл бұрын
Gary Scott It all depends Gary - I quite often do conservation volunteering in different parts of Scotland, so I sometimes live in different areas and shoot videos while I'm there or go on weekend trips away. Most of my videos require a 1-2hr drive to get to the locations though. Scotland's not a very big country in comparison to most and you can find so many amazing locations not too far apart (especially in the Highlands). Hope you make it to Scotland one day!

Love the images (and let's not forget the locations themselves), but if I may come with some constructive criticism, could you leave the pictures up for just a few more seconds? I found myself trying to take in all the details, only to have it switch back before I've looked at even 1/3rd. I think all the other videos have been fine, it's just this one that I remember going "oh but I wasn't done looking at it yet :(". Also, out of my own curiosity: which program are you editing with?
@zeballos57577 жыл бұрын
Jan Martin Mathiassen Well that’s interesting. I literally just watched the video and without reading the comments, I made the same one as you. Leave the images there just a bit longer. By the time it is fully planned out on the image your eyes are just adjusting and it doesn’t give enough time to see the whole scene and yes the details.
@janmartinmathiassen62657 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's not a _huge_ deal, I can just pause the video to look at them proper, but it's good to see I'm not the only one thinking the same thing. Scotland's been on my to-travel-to list for a long while, so I want to enjoy the pictures from there just a smidge longer. :)
@zeballos57577 жыл бұрын
Jan Martin Mathiassen same for me. Scotland is on the list. 🏴

Good vlog Kim, just goes to show the misconception that landscape photography can only be done at sunrise and sunset. If it's cloudy the diffused light from the cloud can really work in your favour, someone once told me that there is no such thing as bad light, only bad interpretation of the available light.

Another enjoyable video - thank you. I've recently come across a UK photographer by the name of Ken Scott, and I really enjoy his approach. I heard this podcast about how he immerses himself in and is mindful of his surroundings - something which I think might resonate with you. Heres a link to the piece - hope you enjoy it. touchingthelight.co.uk/blog/2014/03/mindfulness-photography-podcast/

Like your vids, really like your images...BUT please buy a Thesaurus and find some synonyms for amazing, incredible etc. Using these superlatives as punctuation is extremely annoying to a lot of your potential viewers (think older than 30), and detracts from your quite good(otherwise) commentary. ;)

Please do photography more and explain less how you think "novadays" everything is so much harder.
