Agreed on getting the memories no matter what the light is like or the time of day! Just returned from a 9 day adventure in the UK myself... and a quick day trip to Paris... lifetime of memories, and a dream come true.

Brent, I can highly recommend a trip to Glen Coe it's a landscape photographer's dream as is Glen Finnan viaduct and whilst you are that side of the country you definitely should visit Eilean Donan Castle it was the castle used in the original Highlander film 👍

Brent, super beautiful pictures. Want less cars quite and super wildlife? Take the post boat that docks everyday in Mallaig harbor and let it take you to Inverie on the Knoydart peninsula. The boat tour from Mallaig to Portree Isle of Sky is also fantastic. Did you take the steam train from Fort William to Mallaig. Man wish I was there, went there and filmed it with my Gitzo Super 8 film movie camera. It’s that long ago, but I still remember every bit, it’s now 35 years ago.

Welcome to Scotland! Don't worry about pronunciation, we natives have trouble with some of the place names too and on the east coast, a loon is something else entirely 😂 Great video, looking forward to the next ones 👍

Hi Brent! I discovered your amazing videos few minutes ago. I'm soo looking forward to try camera settings for bird photography. The videos from SCO are awesome. Was there 3 months ago. Breathtaking landscape. Would you mind to write, where did you discover the beautiful bridge (8:47)? Thanks. Mira from Austria

Great common sense video. As a bird watcher, the second i see a bird that i want to photograph i snap a shot. even a horrible photo can be used for identification later. you have the size, color, shape of the bird even though it isn't in focus. after that initial shot, then i get concerned with aperture, speed, iso & focus. in the worst case i have a memory, but i do have something. The 2nd item you brought up, is about traveling lighter. I once went golfing and i was paired up with a guy who carried 4 clubs and one sleeve of golf balls. a 3 wood, 5 iron, wedge and a putter. He told me it made him a better golfer, because he had to think outside the box and learned how to make a 5 iron hit like a 8 iron or a 3 iron. i believe carrying less equipment will make me a better photographer long term. no tripod... use a fence post or tree limb. no 500mm lens. learn to get closer to your object. thanks again Brent for all of hints you give us.

@Brent Hall • You are not the only one who has ever regretted the decision to travel light. I'm glad it worked out for you today. You have really brought out the textures of the Scottish landscape* more than anyone I've seen (and I just watched Jamie Barnes latest canoe trip through 3 lochs)! Hope you and camera lady have an "incredibly" (😉) good time. 👍 * Not just the aqueduct, but the hill behind the loon/diver. P.S. Great drone work!

Fabulous Opening footage of Urequart Castle and loch ness! Scotland is possibly the most beautiful and photogenic country in Europe, Esp the highlands! I went in 2019 for two weeks on a self drive trip and everything about it annihilated my expectations (with the exception of the food lol)! About halfway through the trip, we started seeking out Italian restaurants... Edenborough is truly one of the worlds greatest cities too! Hoping to make it back some day! Love the video!

When you said "This is gneiss", my first thought was literally, "Well it's all right but nothing to get excited about." 😂😂 It took me until you mentioned your geology study. 💡🤦🏿‍♂️ I'd love to visit Scotland someday. My niece has been there five times at least. It might have to be solo because my wife is not a walker.

Im just wondering How should i carry rf 100-500 with the camera attached when walking lets say 2-3hrs or more handholding. Im just scared that either lens or camera mount will get damaged due to too much weight if i for example just hold the camera but then lens exerts much pressure to the camera mount tho!? Hmm Cuz not gonna put it in and out to back pack every single few minutes when i see the bird or other animal etc
@BrentHall
@BrentHall Жыл бұрын
The only thing I can offer here is my two cents, which is both highly subjective and anecdotal. I've been shooting with long and heavy lenses for over 15 years and I have never once had any issues with the integrity of either the camera body or lens contacts after prolonged use and carrying. I've had this 100-500 and R5 since they both came out and it is my most used combo ever, and again, still rock solid and never had any issues with loosening, rattling, broken contacts or locking mechanisms, nothing, but also like I said before, that is purely anecdotal and not to be used in any sort of meaningful scientific data set.

@@BrentHall thanks for answer 😎 i have brand new lens and just noticed tiny scratches on the lens bayonet, not sure if it came like that or i did it when attaching this lens first time 🤔 maybe i exagerate hehe but this is How i Am , but ok will try not to worry about such small things, just will test it while shooting and will see after months etc, maybe i worry too much but this lens was huge expense for me but i also understand that when i will go out with this its almost not possible to not bump or scrach it from time to time even when im very careful
