Hey Brian. You picked a really great place for some photography. I drove from Solvang up to Carmel along the scenic route Interstate 1. As a photographer, I can't tell you how many times I stopped along the way just to snap some photos. I can now finally say, I've been there too. :) Hope you had a great time.

Lovely video Brian, great photography too. That cropped layers of the coast was my favourite, I'm into that minimalist vibe when the opportunity arises. I've been on a couple of road trips in California many moons ago and had the best times over there but I missed out on Big Sur.

Wow, what a coastline and fabulous conditions. Stonking intro Brian. Seeing that Yurt brought back memories of last summer for me when my lad got married and we all stayed in yurts on a retreat, the ones we stayed in looked just like that - back in Wales 😀 Thos sea stack and conditions were absolutely, loved both shots. Was wondering when your wife said about them being protected, I take it there was no way to actually get down to the shoreline? Both my kids have read Kerouac & both love travel, the youngest having lived in many places around the World and is off to Canada at the end of the year for a year. As your were talking us through the image of 16:22 I was thinking this is going to be a belter, right up my street... As you szoomed right in you appeared to lose the tree bottom right but thnakfully the image included it - I thought it anchored the scene well... Not surprised it was your fave. Cracking image Danielle, Brian better watch out :) Atb Alan
@brianbeattyphotography2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Alan! Glad you enjoyed this one. Many of the coastal areas are protected and unreachable unless there is a dedicated trail down. Most of the coast is cliffs. And the image you mentioned about the mountain layers actually turned out fairly soft, so I used a previous one not videoed to recreate the composition. I liked that tree so left it in that time!

Great adventure and nice video of it. Your second light beam shot with focus on the flowers in the foreground is very cool! Hey, I didn't know there is yurt lodging in that area. I will definitely have to look into it and try it out.

Thanks Alex! I was happily surprised with that one as I wasn't really looking for it or paying attention. The yurts were incredible. DM me in IG and I'll tell you where. They were a bit $$$ though.

Great 20:43 minute workshop. I have photographed Big Sur many times. However, I did it while staying in Carmel. Your actually being there adds much more to the opportunity for great shots. Especially toward the south end. Thanks so much for sharing. Your overnight accomodations looked interesting. Would you recommend it? Thanks again.

Thank you! Big Sur is so stunning, but then again also challenging to photograph sometimes. Being there for multiple days definitely helped me break through a bit of a wall I had up from prior visits. I highly recommend staying in a yurt overlooking the ocean, yes 😎

What a great adventure you both had up to Big Sur. Love the second image the most. The impact of the sunbeams through that tree was amazing. And Danielle's photo looked great. Love the wide view and expanse of her image. Rock on! :)

Brian, love the pano on the mountains in mist fading away into the distance. Really captures the essence of the Big Sur coast. Question: I noticed that you have the same Roofnest model I have on my Jeep. Wondering if you experience an incessant whistling when you’re driving? It’s super annoying and we’ve added the optional wind deflector which did nothing to help that situation. It would be great if you’ve found a solution that you could share with us! Cheers!
@brianbeattyphotography2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Keith! Glad you enjoyed that one too. Regarding the whistling…that is super annoying. I haven’t heard a ton on ours, but if I had to guess I’d say it might be the straps in the front or back are loose. Are those tied down super tight? If not it might be the crossbars

Hey Brian. Very nice video. Can you give me any information on the flat bracket you attached to your telephoto lens collar? It appears at 13:52. Thank you and keep up the good work!
@brianbeattyphotography2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Robert! It’s just a generic L-bracket quick release plate (I think that’s what it’s called) that attaches to the 100-400 lens collar. Here’s the link to the one I got for about ten bucks. Sturdy and makes attaching to tripods a breeze! www.amazon.com/dp/B07D4CD2ZV/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_TB8GSHDKQRD6JF6WV928?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&linkCode=ml2&tag=bbeattyphot05-20
