Hi Terry, excellent as usual! I did not watch live and get to ask a couple of questions. Perhaps I can now. I seem to recall you saying, in a past session, one cannot upload a smart collection from Lrc to Lightroom. Is that correct. Also, I have some collections that all the photos will not up load from Lrc to Lightroom, even though they have the little icon that indicates they should. I think I have checked all the variables, file type, size, etc. and checked the help sites but no luck? I can however upload one that did not go by itself. Does not seem to make sense. Sorry if this is not the right place for questions. I think you are one of the best Adobe instructors. Thank you . . .

Hi Terry....thank you for the super helful information. I do have a question in regards to renaming. Example....If I have 50 photos of Janet Jackson in a folder on my hard drive and I put 5 of those photos in a collection and then rename those 5 photos in the collection, you said the files will be renamed on the hard drive as well, but where im confused is, doesn't that mean you'll have 2 different file names in that Janet Jackson folder on the hard drive because when you renamed the 5 photos only those 5 filenames changed? Woulnd't that cause a mess? and with photos having the capability of being in multiple collections, what happens if you have photos in multiple collections and you rename files in each of those collections? This has really been tripping me up lately. Thank you in advance for any helpful info

Hi, renaming photos renamed photos period no matter where you rename them. If I rename a photo from TLW23455.DNG to JanetJackson0005.DNG that photo has been renamed in the folder on your hard drive and in every collection it’s in. Collections are virtual for organization purposes but if you rename a photo it’s renamed EVERYWHERE.

A question about LRC I'm doing collections after watching a Terry tutorial. However, he doesnt' share how to make a subfolder in a collection. I was able to do one in the "smart collection" (not sure how I did that) but can't do it in the regular collection if I add one by clicking the +. Also I seem to now have two? lightroom folders and so two collections. how did that happen adn how do I fix it? IS this taking up space on my hard drive?

Hi and sorry for the confusion: In LrC Collections can NOT be in other Collections, However, you can put multiple Collections in a Collection Set. You can also put multiple Collection Sets in a Collection Set. Your photos are wherever they are on your hard drive and as long as they are not duplicated, you shouldn't be taking up too much space. When you say you have "2 lightroom folders" are they exactly the same? are you talking about on your hard drive or in LrC? If on your hard drive, 2 folders can't be in the same place with the same exact name. So verify which is the real/current one. If you mean 2 Lightroom "folders" in LrC then again you'd need to verify what's in each one and decide if they are in fact exact duplicates. If they are exact duplicates then you could delete one.
